I get on here and it seems like everyone owns and 1895G, I finally took all I could stand. I made a phone call to my local pusher and in an hour he had a brand new 1895G, and I figured tax and all $550 wasn't bad. The pictures are not good, lighting sucks. I really like it so far, it has an excellent trigger right out of the box. I am going to disassemble and clean tomorrow before running some factory fodder through it to help with some break in. Now I have to get some 45/70 dies, I own two now the other is an Encore. I can pull a Doc Holiday now, "I have two 45/70's, one for each of ya."

Anyone used H4895 for the 45/70?

Heath,

Congratulations on the 1895G, you are going to love it!
In the 45-70, H322 has been a great choice for me with both 300 gr and 405 gr bullets.
BTW, the new Nosler 300 gr CTBST will be out in the next 30 days or so.

Congratulations, Heath. It is a great rifle and I'm certain you will enjoy it.

Great rifle Heath. Looks pretty familiar! Your right about the trigger, it is better than the trigger on my Browning BLR 358. A little heavy, but very crisp. Can't wait to zero mine. Hopefully I get a chance this week. Scotty

Greg couldn't have said it better! I like mine alot and have only put 15 rounds through it. They are pretty fun to "put" together, there are so many different options for them. Bigger lever loops, rails, sights, scopes and so on. Plus, it seems like the Marlin is very well made. Scotty

Heath, I have been looking over alot of 45-70 data and it seems like H4895 is really good with the 400+ grain bullets. I think I am going to try out the 425gr Piledriver Jr's eventually. I really can't wait to get ahold of some of the 300gr CBST's either. I think with those two, I would be well covered with about anything I would ever hunt with my 45-70. Never loaded cast, so I am going to try them out in my 44 Rem Mag and 45-70. Scotty

425 gr Piledriver Jr's w/H322... A combo made in heaven for a .45/70 lever gun!

The 350 Swift A-Frame is a very serious bullet too, as is the 300 gr Nosler Partition if you can find them. Hornady's 350 FNSP isn't bad either. H4198 will provide some impressive velocity, even from the stubby barrel!

I actually cannot wait to try those Piledrivers. If I can make them shoot, I think it would be a deadly combo. Those Piledrivers have a WIDE MEPLAT and seem like they would put the smack down on game. So many good options for the 45-70, it is hard to decide. Scotty
