Does anyone have any suggestions for a coyote load in a .243? My shots most likely will be inside of 300 yds. I would like to salvage the hides also.

Ballistic Tips should be about right mate.

From my experience 243 and saving fur don't really go together. I would look at the Barnes, GMX or E-Tip.

I've killed them with the 55gr NBT, 70gr BlitzKing and 87 Vmax from my 243 and it looks like dynamite.

...the Nosler Custom Comps should probably work fairly well, I don't think they're really frangible, other than that I've got the 90gr. Sierra FMJBT's to shoot fairly well in my .243 WSSM, not exceptional BC, but still pretty good out to 400-450yds...

Saving fur and the 243 are a hard mix. Heath and Gene probably have the best ideas for tough bullets or non expanding.

I need to work on my reading comprehension.
I missed the saving the fur part. To me a coyote is a target of opportunity and the hide doesn't mean anything to me.

Me too... The bigger mess I make of them the better I like it.

FWIW.... I used a 243 on them for a good while.... 70 grain Blitz Kings with a stiff dose of Varget.

The trick to saving pelts with the .243 is 80gr hornady FMJ and 2800 or lower FPS. Any more speed than that and they tend to “pop” smaller fur bearers leaving excessive pelt damage.

I ran the 55gr BT out of my 243 for several years. Easily took over 100 dogs with it. I was running H380 and getting 3970 fps out of a 26" tube. Shot like a freaking lazar into bug holes!

I have recently been running some 55gr Bt out of my AR, Very disappointed in the splat factor after using the 55gr in the 243 for so many years.

I read somewhere that the Sierra 60gr HP was a good one in the .243. I always used the Hornady factory 75HP loads in my .243 I used to own, but I wasn't saving hides.

I would try the 95 gr BT or the 90 gr AB in the 243 Win. Heavier jackets but you will need to stay off the big bones.
I have taken a few coyotes with the 257 Roberts using 100 gr and 115 gr BT's as well as the 110 gr AB. Exits were the size of a quarter through the slats.

The bear 78 is on the mark. My father in laws magic load used 80g Hornady fmj. I am down to my last 100 or so bullets from his old stash. Chest shots give minimal pelt damage 4 out of 5 times, but get a few runners that need to be tracked.

90 AB's or 85 Partitions with a dose of IMR4350 should work quite well.
