Kraky,

I agree a 300 win mag is an excellent cartridge. But i already have a 300WSM That i just love, I also have a 30-06. I have looked at the tikka and sako's and have no complaints.
..................To get a 300 WM, when you already have an `06 and a 300 WSM is IMO, a greater waste of money as well as a lack of better diversity............As I mentioned before, you have just about everything covered from the 338 on down. Now it is time to go up the ladder to the bigger boys; to the 375`s and larger.

A Browning BLR is 358 Winchester would be a nice rifle. I have quite a few big magnums and the 358 is a joy to load and shoot with. It will shoot heavy 250's and lighter 200's with pretty respectable speeds and lower recoil. Plus the BLR is a nice rifle to carry if you are doing alot of walking. Scotty

How about a Remington Sendero in .264 WinMag? I don't know how close on price it will be, but a heavy 26" fluted barrel should meet your other requirements.

I had one and killed a pronghorn buck at long range with it. Very accurate and fast! 3400 fps with 120 BT's.

Look into the Savage 114 Classic. I bought one in .300 Win Mag, out the door for $638.00. It shoots very well and looks and feels great. Also look into CZ. My buddy had a .458 Lott built by them for very cheap. He was able to completely customize it, meaning...exact barrel length (23.5 inches) exact stock, free floating, etc. He said that Savage would only allow him to pick out what they had and would not cut down the barrels, etc. I guess that CZ threw in an upgraded stock (better wood) than he ordered.

So if you want to have a true custom gun without paying an arm and a leg, call up CZ. His .458 Lott is beautiful and shoots perfectly.

Oh, he had some loading problems, and they told him to send it back and they would correct it and they would pay all the shipping. They fixed it (most everything loaded fine, but he had some solids with a flatter nose profile that seemed to hang up a bit). For a Cape Buffalo rifle...that made him nervous.
