 I was suprised warm welcome. Thanks, dudes. I thought I might pose a couple of questions just to get some other thougts.

I have been loading the 300 win using 71 grains of I4350 and the 06 using 58 grains of I 4350. Both loads seem to be very accurate but does any one have any other ideas?

Also, does it really make any difference whether or not I use protected points in the 300? I did not even know about the recommendation until I started looking at this website.

cutthroat,

Glad you are here.

I assume you are loading 180 gr bullets in the 300 Win Mag and 30-06.

For the 300 Win Mag, try 75.0 grs of RL22 witha Federal GM215M primer.
You can use pointed bullets, load them to fit the magazine and you will be fine. Work up carefully, this is a warm load.

When I had my 30-06, I loaded 180 gr bullets with 55.0 grs IMR4350.
You might also look at RL22, start at 57.0 and MAX is 61.0 grs.
Again, work up carefully.

Try RL 22 in both as JD said. But then again if the loads you already have work then try some different bullets like ballistic tips or accubonds. I am a tinkerer too and can never stop tinkering around.

Right now I have a 30-06 that shoots great!

Well I am playing with 125 150 and 180 gr BT's and Accubonds...just for fun. I only see myself using the 150's for speedgoats and the 180 AB for everything else....maybe for goats too...see what I mean?

So many loads so little time!

Nice comment.......so little time, so little time.
I'm with POP & JD.......try some RL. 4350 has always been an awsome powder for me.......just don't like the meetering of it....too inconsistant.

I get excellent accuracy with my Sakos in 300wm and 30-06 both are bedded and tuned topped with Vari x 2 Leupolds with CPC Reticles.I use Fed 215 or Rem 9 1/2 Mag Rifle primers and IMR 4831:58gr with a 165gr nos solid base in the 06 and 72gr with a 180gr AccuBond in the 300wm .
