I think I may be done for a while

I had the opportunity to shoot a 460 Weatherby last week at the local gun range. It was quite pleasant to shoot--it did have a break on it. Standing 15 feet away pretty much sucked though. Every time the fellow shot, I could feel my teeth shake. Brass and bullets were a little spendy.

The only way I will ever do a brake if it's on something that I will NEVER fire without hearing protection... Something like a tacticool .338 Edge.

Notice I haven't really pinned down what "a while" is!

Laughin'.

I have a fair number of rifles that I need to work up loads for, and I keep falling further behind. And I STILL need to buy a new (another) safe. And I keep going to the Defiance Arms website, looking at their actions...

Plus, there's that whole .17 RF thread... and you knuckleheads keep posting about Marlin .45-70s... and I want to get my BSA over .300... :)

It is a good place to be! You surely need some range time with them!

45-70's can be found on chance and most of the time, you can find a decent deal on them too.

I think so, though I'm still kicking myself for not jumping on the .45-70/.450 Marlin pair at the LGS a couple of trips back...

But that still wouldn't get the BSA over .300!

Well a 45-70 is just fun Kurt. Loaded light with some plinking type loads with some 2400 would make you smile and those bullets will still zing though about anything short of moose!

Yep, I'm sure I'll end up with one or two... I really dig the Cowboy model, and I will probably start with a Guide Rifle if I can find one without ports.

There's tons of Guide Rifle around and you should be able to scoop a nice one pretty easily.

Kurt,

I like the Cowboy model as well. However, I'm now eying a Model 86 Winchester. I suspect I'll see one of these follow me home shortly.

I like them too, Mike, but they are just a touch rich for my blood. For similar money, I'd rather get a '71 in .348.

my smith has a defiance at his shop, very well built and would consider using one on my next build i used a bat on my last one which isnt done yet but i think the defiance is right there with it.

I've shot a number of rifles built on Defiance actions during the past year, and it does make for an accurate rifle.
