What's even funnier is I know the former Capt Schauble. He was a platoon commander with 2nd Force is 05. A bunch of my good mates were in his platoon. Pretty good guy and was wounded pretty heavily during the attacks in Fallujah.
It is a heckuva weapons system, but like they alluded to in the article, it still takes a shooter to hold the rifle steady enough to hit at a 1000 yards. Most of the technology has been there for awhile though with ballistic computers and the boon in RF technology.
There was a full article write up on this Rifle/Scope combination in last months Sniper magazine by Tom Beckstrand. "The coolest company you've never heard about".
Interesting I thought. Surgeon built the XS1, XS2, and XS3 rifles for them and Barnes loaded a 190 gr. LRX bullet for the XS3 in 300 Win. Mag. which is their hunting model and loads a 220 gr. SMK for the XS2, their Tactical model in 300 WM..... even using a 300 grain Sierra MK for the XS1 in 338 Lapua Magnum.
Honestly though, I'd rather not place so much "trust" in a high tech device like this, but the system does have a lot of built in advantages?
