Idle hands can lead to trouble!

The old saying about idle hands is definitely true!

Being laid up as I continue to recover from my injuries in May has certainly lead to trouble! (If one could call it that! ;) ) Keeping in mind that I still have one more surgery pending to remove the plate from my shoulder so I can once again shoulder a firearm, and then physio for who knows how long this winter to rebuild its strength and be able to shoot again. The continue to work to be able to work up those heavier recoiling rifles again.

Not being able to get out of the house much, and go hunting, which would make for long days in the field away from the internet has led me to more time surfing the web, watching WildTV and the Sportsman Channel, and reading many hunting and shooting magazines and books, and basically living vicariously through the hunting and shooting activities of others. Don't get me wrong; I am not depressed by it, or stressing over it. I am in good spirits, having accepted from the beginning that this recovery would be a slow process and take me into the new year before I will be able to get out to hike some, get back into shape, and be able to shoot again, as the cold winter months allow. It is keeping me busy and positive! 😄

And it does give me time to research more reloading data for the rifles I have, am currently having rebarreled, and acquire for that next build. And searching for the required components to put it all together.

Rebarreling that LH Browning X Bolt All Weather from 308 to 25 Creedmoor (24" Benchmark 5 R 1:7.5 twist fluted barrel).
Have bought a new-to-me scope for it; Leupold VX-6 3-18x44 Illum Varmint reticle for it, along with dies, brass, and bullets. (Although still waiting for Sierra to put out there new 131 gr TGK bullets!)

Acquired a LH Browning X Bolt 2 Hunter and ordered another 24" Benchmark 5R barrel 1:7.5 twist for it, to be chambered in 257 AI Improved.
Have bought a new-to-me scope for it; Leupold VX-6HD 3-18x44 Illum. B&C reticle. Still need to find dies...

And now, I came across that beautiful custom LH Sako AV in 25-06 Rem that was built by well known gunsmiths from Kelowna BC! (Whom I met some 25-30 years ago in their shop at the recommendation of a friend, while in the area.) Comes with 9 boxes of 4 different types of 110-120 gr ammunition.
And I have acquired a Zeiss V4 4-16x44 scope with #68 ZBi Illum - ASV-E / ASV-W Ballistic Turret for it. I have ordered some Nosler 115 gr Ballistic Tip ammo for it, and will be looking for dies at a local gun show tomorrow. If not, will be on the lookout for these over the coming months.

I am definitely expanding my quarterbore knowledge and capacity! :D

And I picked up another reloading press; a Forster, so that I can get some reloading done over this winter!

So, do you think I'm in trouble? 🤔
Or would you say that I am gaining motivation to get these idle hands moving again, and looking towards full recovery and returning to this passion that we all enjoy?

All I can say is that I am extremely grateful to be working again so that I can afford to be doing all this, and looking forwards to new hunting adventures next fall and in the years to come!

A fellow has to have something to get excited about. Life is too short to dwell on the misery. I heard that Jack O’Connor was in an automobile accident that had him hospitalized for a while. His recovery only began once a longed-for Model 70 in 7x57 materialized in his room one day.

Get well soon! You have toys that need attention!

keep looking forward , and don't get discouraged . you have goals set , you just have to keep working to obtain them

You definitely have the right mind set! Being positive, no matter what obstacles you are challenged with, will carry you through. I've always surrounded myself around successful people and always said success breeds success and you are doing just that.
You are going to love the Forester Co-Ax press. The camming power is incredible. I’m glad to see you getting back into reloading again. That will keep your hands and mind busy while you’re recovering.

25's ROCK!
Good for you!
Let me turn you to the dark side to a custom XP, and you can be shooting even faster:cool:😇
If only we could still acquire handguns here in Canada!
And then be allowed to hunt with them.

Alas, my handguns tend to sit in he safe way too much...need to rectify that!
But at least I have them and can use them at the range when I am more mobile!
Need to test out that Kimber 10mm alongside my new Marlin Trapper in 10mm!
Lots of ammo on hand to try, and compare velocities between the 5" and 16" barrels. 😄
