Imperial Sizing Wax and Unique

Well, I bought into the group think and picked up a tin of imperial last night. Let's see how it does on these 30-06 reloads...

I just placed an order with midway USA and had to go over the 25.00 minimum to save the surcharge. My order was for 23.99 total berfore so I added a Imp. sizing wax to go over 25.00. Anyway still have the original at home. About 1/3 left from 1999.

I have Imperial Sizing Wax and Unique. One is a lubricant and one is a powder made by Alliant. Am I missing something here?

Unique is also a lube, think it is made by Hornady or someone Hornady is affialited with.

You'll like Imperial Sizing Wax. I am still working on my first can. Bought two a few years ago. Not sure how long it'll be to get the 2nd, but it is great stuff. Really makes sizing the WSM's and other magnum cases much easier.

Imperial sizing wax is the thing to use when forming cases and you really need a lube up for that tough job. I take a pipe cleaner with a bit of Imperial to lube the case necks to prevent expander ball drag.

I was given 3 bottles of RCBS lube right after I bought my reloading kit and I'm still working on those 4 tubes for over 12 years now. I haven't had any issues once I learned how much "too much" lube was. Now I barely wet the brass on the pad and never have issues. I've been lubing neck interiors using the same specialized tool as FOTIS with the RCBS too. Always meant to buy some mica but always forget to add it to my cart. I'll probably try Imperial when I run out of the RCBS lube. If they're still in business that is.

I had a small bottle of RCBS Sizing Lube which I received in 1963 when I bought my RCBS press. I just lost this bottle in a move in 2006 and it was still 1/2 full!

I think I'm going to give Mica a try. Graphite is just a mess. I hate getting black gick on my cleaned cases.

Mike say's I'm down to my last tin. I actually used a full tin during the past two years.

I am on my third tin, about 1/2 way through. But that is 50 years of loading, not two.

I am a little late on this but I have been using Imperial sizing wax for a few years now and have never had a problem. When I was up with Mike for a few days I saw how well the neck media worked and I am now using that as well. I have dented a few brass but only in the 7mm mag. but that is over lubing the shoulder.
Great product

Blessings,
Dan

....but unique can also be used to waterproof leather. it says so right on the tub. =P

can imperial do that?

I always thought that was a funny thing to print on the side of a tub of case lube.

is it possible that they are the same thing?

It ain't group think, it is group smart!

Yet another thing I've learned on this board.

I'm a convert. The RCBS lube pad is just going to collect dust. I've done everything now from 204 Ruger to 7mm RM and i love this stuff. Easy to apply, cleans off with no fuss. The press seams to require less effort when I'm using it.

Were do you guys buy your wax from? The locally owned sporting goods shop can not get it, so I guess I will get it online.

You should be able to get it from any major Web-based supply (Midway, Mid-South, Natchez, Sinclair, etc.).
