Anyone try this powder in the 35 Whelen yet? It should do well with bullets from 200-250 gr I would think since it was designed to be similar to Varget.

Not in the Whelen, but I had good luck with it in my 2 .30-06's. It shot very accurately with Nosler PT's.

Gerry,

I haven't tried this. I did run some numbers last evening on QL. Using 200 & 225 Barnes, and 200 & 225 ABs and 225 Woodleigh SN, there are quite a few powders that give better case fill and significantly higher velocities. IMR 4166 looks to work, however; it is just that there are so many others that produce higher velocities and better case fill.

If you can find it and have a steady supply CFE223 works great in the 35 Whelen along with 8208. I've burnt a good bit of both in the 35/AI and the 35 Whelen looking for the best load with 200gr AB with all loads right around 58-60Kpsi where they seem to perform the best out of my rifles.

I thought it would've been similar to 4064 which has worked well in the past. There are so many good powders these days it's almost hard to choose.

Been using 15 for years and now H4895 in the Whelen. It's almost hard to pick a bad one.
