Just a few observations I've made for anyone considering this powder.

Seems to be on par with the 4350 but what a lot less copper fouling. I noticed it seems to burn a bit dirtier though so be prepared for carbon fouling.

Velocity seems to be on par with the 4450 but I've used less powder to obtain it. You can't substitute 4350 data for 4451 data as it don't work that way.

As for how it meters, I have no idea. I went back to the Lee Dipper spoons for my single stage rifle reloading. I got tired of cutting granules of powder in my Redding BR powder dispenser and I haven't tried an electronic digital dispenser yet.

I'm liking the less copper fouling aspect however and that alone makes this a viable powder to consider. Just a few thoughts for anyone considering the new Enduron powders.

Pour some powder in a scale pan and take a pic so we can see the grain size. looking for short grain powders to get a better case fill.

I have thought it meters much better than IMR4350 and agree that the copper fouling is reduced sugnificantly.

My first look at 4451 has been very encouraging. I've been waiting on a powder that is high energy like Reloder 22 and the temperature stability of H-4350.

From the looks of the pictures in the link it's the same size kernel as H4350 and it's too slow for what I'm looking for.

I think the faster Enduron powder is IMR 4166?
I believe you're right.

I've been trying 4166 in .220 swift. I'm getting results very similar to H4895. I'd say that 4166 is somewhere around that burn rate.

Chronographed my load today.
2625 fps in the 30-06 with 54.0 grains of IMR 4451 with an SD of 8. :)

Not too bad Vince depending on what bullet you are running..

Haven't tried any of it yet, but I may grab a pound to try in my 7mm Mashburn FF loads. I found a good load that uses IMR4350, but I wouldn't mind using that same load for hunting as well so the temp resistance doesn't hurt my feelings.

Just shot some this morning in my 270 Winchester with 160gr Nosler's. Rifle likes it better than H4350 but not as well as H4831. Looks promising so far and am planning on continuing with the IMR4451 and H4831 loads. Would not hesitate to take any of the three out for elk though, its just such a long drive from Alabama!

I really like the Enduron propellants, especially 4451. Any rifle that liked 4350 has shot 4451 equal or better.

That's promising stuff fellas. It looks like 7977 might be a good slow powder as well for the 270 with heavier bullets. I'll get around to it eventually.

IMR 4350 has been my goto powder for the 7mag., .300 Win., and a host of non belted calibers. I come from the deep south where 100 degree temps. are not out of the norm nearly 1/2 the year. And I've hunted IMR 4350 to well below zero in Northern New Mexico. And not once in all these years have I ever seen evidence that IMR 4350 is Temp. intolerant.
I've killed 2 elk at yardages from about 300 to a lasered 400 with the same sightin I left Georgia with. I can't complain about the results.
IMR 4451 may end up being a better powder than good old 4350. But in the meantime no one should look at IMR 4350 as an inferior powder.
Just my 2 cents.

I really like IMR 4350 @ 75.0 in my 300 Win Mag with 180gr Nosler Part.
Is IMR 4451 a grain for grain swap with IMR 4350?

It's close, but you can't just use loads without using good load development practices.

I've been using 4451 in my .270 with 130 Partition and its working real good. I've noticed that the results are pretty much the same as Reloder 17 as far as charge weight and realized velocity. But then, Reloder 17 behaves a lot like the 4350s.

I loaded some 250 AB with 66.5 of IMR 4451 in my 338 Win Mag.

To the range we go......I ho I ho :)
