My dad passed away earlier this week and I had came down to Michigan to help settle his affairs. One of the things I’m doing is shipping and selling off his gun collection. I’ve ended up having to ship up to Alaska 6 handguns and 8-9 rifles.

One of them was his pride and joy an old SXS 12ga that belonged to his great grandpa. It is a CJ Bonehill damascus barreled exposed hammer 12ga with a 40/65 barrel sleeve in the right barrel with rifled sights. It was apparently one of his only longguns and he was pretty good with it. I will be having a shadow box made for it to display above my fireplace.

Another cherished rifle is his marlin 1894 in 357 mag. As a child this was my favorite rifle. Easy to shoot, accurate, and very handy. It was the number one choice for deer when hunting standing corn, swamps, and deer drives. It has easily killed more deer than any other rifle in the house. 158gr Speer JSP @ 1750fps. Out to 125 yards it never failed. It was the rifle all younger shooters hunter with claiming many firsts.

It’s been a pretty hard month having lost both parents in the last 3 weeks. It was kind of nice to go thru the safe this evening and remember old times.

Sorry for your losses. Know that they both are in a good place looking down upon you.
Cherish all the great memories and the guns that made those memories.
