At $60 pluse shipping for 100 rounds of CCI 22lr it would seem any rim fire rifle is now useless due to cost of ammo. And you can not reload them at home.

Hope its a miss print but all other CCI rimfire ammo just gets more costly than the cheepest? mini mag.

I seem to remember the soccer dads paying $100 for a pmag not too long ago, I would imagine the price will come down when the hoarding is over and production outweighs the demand.

If the WALMART Employees would quit selling it to their friends and on gunbroker we would have some now but I strongly feel amo prices will not go,down in price any time soon! I saw all this coming 4 or 5 years back and put away 3K rounds for 1 .22 and my other shoots Lapua Midas + which is easy to find as it is not used by many as I have a Bentz action that uses standard velocity ammo! It will, come back but it seems it will not be anytime soon :(

I don't horde the stuff.
I would usually buy it 2 bricks at a time because I have around ten 22LR rifles and handguns.
Nothing more fun than a day on a creek bank plinking at whatever came floating along.
Snakes, sticks, pecans, aluminum cans. Whatever.
At $20.00 per brick it wasn't expensive to shoot.
Before I new it, not getting out to plink much anymore but still buying ammo from time to time, I had accumulated 5k rounds of the stuff.
Then my dad passed 12 years ago and he had another 5k in his cabinet.

Then I bought a 39A that won't feed anything reliably except Winchester Wildcats and bought another three bricks.

I'm set on 22 LR for awhile.

Just bought 500 rounds of brand spanking new Remington .22 long rifle for $29 at the local gun shop.

I think the .22 still has a future, once the scalpers are neutered by production catching up with demand.

Most of the gunshops here are saving the bulk packs for people buying a new 22 rifle which is kinda nice but it is,still adding to the availability issue? I think a Lott of the ammo is headed south outta Texas, NM, AZ & CA !

Availability will come back...eventually.

I have a tremendous fondness for the .22LR but my shooting has been curtailed of late and I've shifted my supply to my son and his friends- a bunch of tweener kids looking to bag first critters and hunting trips with the family.

Hard to think the .22LR will ever go out of fashion, but a high end air rifle is looking pretty good right now.

I am never going to pay centerfire prices for rimfire cartridges! I stocked about a years supply for my needs when Obama said the word: "Machinegun" in reference to an AR15 in the third debate with Governor Romney. When I heard that word come put of that lying mouth, I knew that he was going after ammo with a vengence. I don't have a lot of rimfire (about 500, .22LR and 500 .22 WMR) rounds but enough to hold me for awhile, at least until the midterm elections.

This was from the latest sportsmans ware house flier.

As far back as the sixtys ammo and reloading supplies have not been in short supply untill four years ago, Something has changed.

If we can get some one with a different view in the white house I would love to see sales of surpluse ammo at reduced prices. If so the american public would never be out of 223 and 9mm ammo for the next hundred years.

Be patient. The bottom will drop out of the gun/ammo market come Feburay/March.

That's sorta what I'm thinking too. Figure if I can hold on till the new year, we will be in good shape.

Hi all,
Know this doesn't help, but may be a preview for you guys.

WOW! I have not seen that much ammo stacked up in a long time. Hopefully things will change pretty soon. I did notice that the Bass Pro Shop in Manteca, Ca had some primers back on the shelf and a few boxes of hand gun ammo. I can't wait for my June trip to Reno. Hopefully they have fully stocked shelves at that time so that I can rebuild my supplies.

My bass pro had a good supply of Federal match 22 lr. Now I have a reason to buy some :)

I wonder about that sportsmans warehouse flier. But even if the decimel was moved from $6 to $60 six bucks id still alot. And GM is not known for cheap prices here in MI.

Cabelas will not list the price but they have ammo. In saginaw its keep behide the counter. In their fall catalog they say check on line for prices.

I plan on buying a few flats of reloadable STS and AA for my 20/28/410 guns and a 20ga sizemaster so I will have a trio of loaders to load up any thing from target to upland shells.

I am forced to keep two to three years of everything I need to reload so I do not have to endur these shortages. Buy cheap and off season and in bulk.

I do not know what the future of the rimfire will be but, I just bought a slightly used CZ453 for under $500 in a local small gun store.; I have been looking for one of these online and locally for months without success. They were either priced too high or were not walnut stocks. Well I finally found one, in the flesh, in great condition.

Being physically impaired, I needed a hobby. My Model 63 Winchester .22 LR shoots really well for a Semi Auto but still can not break 5/8ths of an inch groups at 50 yards. I hold high hopes for this one and it has the set trigger as well. I have about 600 rounds of .22 LR and hope that this phony ammo supply "crisis" ends soon.

I have a 2.5-8x32 Zeiss Conquest scope in the closet which will be perfect for this rifle and fits my needs perfectly for a scope (out to 50 yards) to use around the house and at the range..

Nice grab there sir.
That sounds like a fine setup. Great rifle with a great scope.
I'd be very interested in how it works out for you.

Just an update on ammo supplies, at least around here, 22 is still tough to get, but much easier than few months back. Cabelas has been getting bricks and bulk packs semi regularly and they seem to last a couple hours rather seconds. Sportsman's has had a fair amount of mini-mags lately. Wally world had Fed Auto Match setting on the shelf in the late morning/early afternoon a few days back. Guys are still trying to scalp the stuff on the local classifieds, but I noticed the asking prices are coming down drastically. Barring another shooting or bad election, I think 22s will be back collecting dust on the shelves soon enough. That said, I don't feel like panicking over 22 in the future. Once back on the shelves with regularity, I figured I'd start buying a brick or two a week for a while to get enough to not have to worry about not being able to shoot my 22s. I don't plan on the rimfire ever being a has been for me.

I surely hope that there will be a supply again of rimfire ammo for sale. This federal rule by command and control, Executive Order, life style, stinks big time. Somebody needs to stand this jack ass up to the wall and remind him of what the reasonable and constitutional rules in this country are!
