I got the rifle I'm putting together for my dad out to the range tonight. It's bedded, and everything's torqued down right now. I'm still waiting for the trigger to come but have a jard 14 oz varmint trigger headed this way. The factory mark x pro is a heavy creepy POS, but with some good concentration I was able to print some decent groups.

The black hills 168gr match load was very nice, followed by a 168gr hornady superformance load, the two lower groups, a hand load of 175gr MK upper left and 175gr SSA factory load.

Thinking about going with a large bolt knob and calling it good. Could probably use a DBM system but will leave that up to the old man.

Looks as if it will be a shooter. That has to be very encouraging for you.

Rifle, shooter & ammo all seem to be working well. Very well in some cases.

New trigger should be a huge help!

Never cared for the over-sized bolt knobs myself... Just a thought.

Got it all finished. That 14oz trigger was a BIG improvement over the mark x pro POS, that come on Remington's now.

Gonna be hard to drop this in the mail, but I think he will like it! Going to send it down to a local shop and have his buddy trick him into going there to pick up some ammo and have him with a price tag that reads free to Ralph. Should be a cool surprise.

I would say that thing shoots, he will be very pleased. Yes it would be hard to mail it off but your dad will be floored.

That is such a neat surprise. You need to have someone video taping him when he looks at it.

Your dad is going to be one happy hunter ! That is a fine looking rifle that will be all business (y).

Blessings,
Dan

The deliver went off without a hitch. His buddy talked him into going to the local shop to pick up some ammo and they gave it to him then. He was realy surprised and very happy with the rifle. He took it out and shot it and says its the most accurate rifle he has ever shot!

Dad stretched it out to 500 meters on the ram today with this nice sub 2" three shot group. To say he was a happy camper would be an understatement!
