This one is for you Scotty

This rifle just said buy me and I did not listen :?: it was accidentally priced as the cheaper grade rifle and sold at the cheaper price and i did not find this out until a week or so later after it was sold, I will find the back portion and post it shortly as it looks like a million bucks for 1699.00??

I am sure once I let loose of it, someone got a steal and a very pretty piece of furniture and a nive rifle for sure!!

Great buy on this gun! I ordered one of these last winter after the show and waited until November for it to arrive, and when it did , it was a standard grade with recoil pad, soposed to have 2X wood on it. I was very disapointed with the wood, as I would have called it basically standard grade walnut with hardly any figure, And certainly no where near real 2X wood. This gun is of course the Higher grade gun with the metal buttplate, and was certainly mispriced. This model is soposed to have 3X wood on it, and I am guessing this one is actually between 1x and 2x, so they must be having trouble finding figured wood as I have owned Model 70 Featherweights with standard wood, that was much more figured than the JOC gun they sent me. A fellow that worships JOC, found out I had the gun, and I sold it to him right away, and he didnt care that the wood was so bland..................... I liked the gun but would have added the correct border around the checkering pattern as I didnt like the way it terminated from the factory. I will keep my eye open for one with real 2X wood in it as I think I just drew a bland one.

That had to have been a disappointment, Earl. I would have certainly been irritated at such a situation. Fancy Grade should mean quality wood with character.

That rifle would have been a score for 1600.00, and what a nice rifle it would have made! Ah well, can't win them all. I have yet to even see one of them up close.

I tell you I,have missed some great deals and have been looking at Winchesters rite after looking at Weatherby's and do not own 1 yet but I am still scratching my head on this one! Not often I drop a jaw over the looks of a beautiful rifle! Really wished I had of know what I,was missing out on because this was worth paying the proper price for!! Me owning a Mark V Lazermak in 270 Weatherby might of had a little to do with my decision all be it a wrong one :(

Saw one of those in Arizona at Cabelas, however the price tag on that one was 2500 smackaroos. The standard Featherweight's gonna have to keep going a while...

Mike,
I was a bummer after waiting so darn long for it........................ I really wanted the gun as I have read everything Jack ever wrote and found him to be light years ahead of his time. I still to this day use his 30/06 pet load of 52gr of 4064 and a 165gr SST at 2925 out of a 22" barrel! Flat out devisates these big Northern Whitetails. I also use one of his old 270 loads but Scotty has me thinkin about RL 22 and every load he has ever helped me with was actually better than anything I had going so he is obviously one click up the ladder as a reloader than I am . Nice he is so kind to share his knowledge with us all on here and I have found him to be rock solid with his theorys about reloading. [Not sure how he stands up on the subject of blondes or redheads yet though]
The gun looked great in all ways but who ever is grading wood there needs glasses as the gun I recieved was really NOTHING to look at wood wise. Having restocked so many guns over the years I am pretty aware of what 2-3X wood is and I personally have not seen even a picture of a JOC that I would call 3X.......................... that is not to say that there isnt some around but I have not seen them. But if the gun they shiped us was any indication of what they are calling 2X they are full of it............... I am guessing they are struggling to find good wood to make stocks out of?? Thats the story from Northern Maine this morning as they search for the 2nd guy from the Boston bombings and I hope when they bring him in he is in the same shape as the first fella was . No fancy lawyers, no trails , no jail time , no pensions , no rights .....................
Just a headstone that reads "This man tryed to make a religous statement , he did, and it cost him his life, Americans are not interested in his statement" ............................ simple as that!

Earl,

I would definitely share your displeasure when anticipating promised quality and not receiving it. And I like the response to the Chechen bombers. The only difference would be that I believe they should be cremated and their ashes disposed of at a garbage dump buried with pig offal.

I like it! Now that's making a statement, and using some Green Methodology too! Appeases everyone! Old fashinoned Pig fertilizer! Maybe they will grow into something useful the 2nd time around!

Mike your way to kind,,,,,,,,,,,,,, those birds should be stood up in the Boston Square and hung up in blocks like they used to a hundred years ago. Then let everyone throw stuff at them for a week so with no food or water, all the while standing in a huge anthill. Then waterboard them until they give up every name of their chums that thinks just like they do . Then go with your cremation you suggested; except make dam sure they where still alive, as you slide them into the oven! Have a tape recorder running and make copys of that process so you could send all their chums a copy of what will be waiting for them as soon as they get over here and try stunts like those boys did!

I do like that one Mike and was hoping for one just like it.......................... probably should see what it goes for ???? They cost $1520 wholesale from our jobber ...............

There is definitely character in the wood; and fit and finish look excellent.
