John Taffin Perfect Packin' Pistol Available

I have the standard Ruger Blackhawk Bisley in .45 Colt. Only difference is mine is blued and no flutes on the cylinder. I don't think there is all that much difference in weight. I know one thing. Mine is a shooter. It almost makes me look good. They're hell for stout, that's for sure. I don't know who owned mine before I got it but it seems to have a well tuned trigger and action. Definitely a keeper.

A fitting tribute to a true legend. This Ruger Flattop series perfectly embodies John Taffin's legacy—elegant, practical, and timeless

Saw this thread on the forum! The John Taffin Perfect Packin' Pistol looks pretty sweet. Wonder if it's as good as those intense sprunkr online matches I've been playing lately! Gonna check Lipsey's later.

That's really nice. I wouldn't mind having one.

Why settle for one? I prefer the unfluted cylinders, as well as the stronger larger framed Blackhawks, for my loads, but have both 45 Colt, and 357 Mag, both in my prefered 5.5" length. I screwed up with the 357 it has SK grips made from a wormy Pecan Barn beam, with the scroll engraving wiped from the unfluted cylinder and a trigger job by Andy Horvath. Perfect packer here in the midwest with my own cast 180 grain Mihec cast HP @ 1455 fps. Also with Doc Barranti Western Hunter hand sewn bandoleer holster rig, I use for both the 357 and the 45 Colt.

Then the same Bisley in 45 Colt with Hogue Black Micarta I fitted to it, and my trigger job. I use it for deer hunting and anywhere dangerous game walks, with my own Custom cast 340 grain WFN. Using John Linebaugh's 45 Colt loads for the Ruger Blackhawk @ 1270 fps.

I sold my FA that I carried for years, like my 1.5 Les Baer. They are just to tight for 100% reliability. I have had both get tight when a little dirty, and if powder residue can tighten them up, any dirt could lead to me being supper! The Ruger is 100% reliable, as accurate, and can be loaded safely for backup SD carry for anything in NA! love my Ruger SA's, all are factory offered, but the 357 is very rare! I also have a very rare 22 LR only Single Six, I wish it was a 5.5" barrel as well, thats my favorite. But unlike the 357 5.5" factory unfluted I screwed up. I have decided to leave the 22 RF only at the 6.5" it was offered with. The 22 RF only, and the 357 are factory, but never a cataloged item/ very rare.

It wears Hogue Walnut I fitted to it, but I do have the factory grips for all of them in their factory boxes. I blame this all on John Taffin, from his influence on me over 50 years ago, a great contributor to the handgunners of my time!
