Joined the Whelen club yesterday!

Beautiful rifle Trevor, I am going to have to quit looking at all these Whelens as I am getting really jealous as I know mine is close but still no word
Did get some good news as the draw is out for the province and my oldest advised that he is going to hunt this fall and would like to be the fourth in our group. I am really looking forward to that

Blessings,
Dan

Very nice rifle you got there mister! Can't help myself..... I think that 2.5-8 Leupold would be perfect! I cannot believe we have another Whelen here. Is it something in the water?

Everyone should own a Whelen or two!

I like my Whelen rifles, I just need to ad a .375 and .400 to the mix and my collection of rifles might be complete.

Now you're just gloating...

:)

Congratulations on the 35 Whelen, you are going to love it for its accuracy and raw horse power.
Truth be known, its the only round you need for anything in NA!

David,
I believe it's something in the air - something like spider monkey fumes. :p You must give credit where it is due!
If it makes you feel any better I'm also eyeing a 6mm heavy barreled NIB Ruger77 MK1.

Good man Scott!

Had to add that the number one shown is gorgeous, but then all number ones are like that, cream of the crop!! :p

Yeah, it is like the 325WSM club Gene.. Come on, you gotta give me something... 8)

"Is it something in the water?"

Yes it is. I believe it's a germ called the Whelenitusthirtyfiveum. Highly contagious and once infected, well there isn't any cure.
Gotta love the Ruger #1 Whelen. Wish I could find one.

I new there had to be a medical term for what I am feeling :)
I think that once I get the cure which would be my new rifle it will not be quite as bad

Dan

Is it called: new rifle to generate: "more-species-to-hunt-itis". or "new-load-developmentitis"?

The only down side to belonging to this club is that reloading componets are not readily availible locally. I went to three local places and all I came up with were some 200gr Hornadays - I passed. I guess I'll be placing an order online for dies, brass and bullets. I suppose I could use '06 brass but I like to have the correct headstamp when I can. I guess it's the price to pay when you belong to such a cool club! 8)

Midway had a big sale on PT's, not sure if it is still running. The RP brass I have used for the Whelen has been really good Scott. I don't even like RP brass, but this has been tough, and I don't baby it a bit. Lost one to a small split in the neck, but since I have learned to anneal, I think it will be even better yet. I am running RCBS Whelen dies and they work fine. Watch your headspace and I think you will be happy. Stock up on RL15. I think you might like it..

I found the same thing. I had to order brass and dies. The LGS had two boxes of 250 Hot Cores. I bought both a couple months ago and they have not yet been replaced. They have very little in terms of .358" bullets other than Hornady... no Noslers and no 225 Sierras, both of which I'd like to try.

If they don't restock their shelves soon, I'm going to have to risk having the big brown truck stop by the house again.

I ordered Nosler brass last Sept. and I am still waiting. I picked up one bag of Remington and that is it for around here :( I also picked up one box of 225gr ABs but can't find anymore.
It is the same thing with Leupold scopes as local dealer keeps getting them back ordered.
Hopefully this shortage will break and then I will be stocking up and it will not be a worry again

Blessings,
Dan

When components are available, Dan, it is a good idea to lay in a supply. I get some priority, and components can be very scarce at times. Here in Canada, we are the end of the line.

Yes, Lots of that going around but that last one is a little to close to CoitusInteruptus and any parent of young children has had enough of that!
