I have been reading about everyone on here who has a 35 Whelen and how much they like them. I have been looking for one for a while and I finally found one. It is a used Remington 700 CDL. I put a Leupold VX2 3-9 on it. It appears almost brand new with only slight handling marks. Now I only have to find some Accubonds to reload for it.

Congrat's on the new Rifle and easiest way to find bullets is send in an email alert when they are in stock as the email you!

Congratulations on the new 35 Whelen! You are going to like it.
The best powder is RL15, which will push the 225 gr bullets to 2700 fps and the 250 gr
bullets to 2600 fps. A lot of horse power for everything from mice to moose.

Congrats on your new Whelen, you have come to the right place for reloading data for sure. That CDL has some nice looking wood on it too. Along with JD's recommendation of RL 15, Varget and IMR 8208 have given excellent results.

Fine looking rifle. If Scotty's experience is any indication, it will be a shooter. Can't see anyone being disappointed with a Whelen.

Nice! That looks like an older Whelen, with some good wood on it! Stoke it up with RL15 and go kill stuff. I love mine. Matter of fact, it's the only M700 I own. Way to go buddy, can't wait to see some results.

Pretty slick. But geez I'm thinking I may be the last one here without a Colonel in the safe.

That can be remedied, Jake.

Handsome rifle! Hope it shoots well and you like it.

Life's too short to live it without a Whelen in the safe, Jake!

I've come to the conclusion, the 35 Whelen is the 30-06 of my battery...

Geez you guys are a tough crowd. A 338 Whelen Ackley Improved won't work?

Jake and Scotty i do not have either  but it is a new year and my Custom Shop order had problems with cerakote so it will not be here till end of Feburary

Hmmmm that's a new one on me. I've heard of the .338-06 Ackely Improved and the .338-06 A Square. :?:

Nope, that 338 AI is a great one as well. But, when has that ever really slowed any of us down?

Outstanding selection of cartridge and platform! Attractive too. Let's get some range results pics posted pronto!!

Grab some 225gr Sierra SGKs and start getting familiar your rifle. They are cheap, shoot great and are fairly analogous (as far as velocity and pressure goes) with the 225gr PT which is never a bad choice. Both of these bullets are much easier to find then the ABs. You won't notice any difference between the two under 350 yds as well ballistically.

Best of luck with your new love.

I picked up some 225 grain partitions and loaded them up with Varget yesterday. I think I got lucky on brass. I found some at SPS. I have seen on other forums that people are looking for brass with the correct head stamp on it. I hope to get out some weekend and try them out if the weather cooperates. They are talking like maybe some more snow here this weekend and where I shoot is not covered. Might have to wait till spring which groundhog Punxsutawney Phil said it still 6 weeks away.

That's a great combo as well. I'm betting you'll have great luck with it. Mine has been really easy to find good loads for.
