I shot Nosler's sporting handgun bullet into four 1 gallon water jugs to test the bullet's expansion and penetraition. The 250 gr, .451" bullet was loaded over Winchester 296, at the mid point of Hodgdon's 45 Ruger only loading data, and it was shot out of my 16" Rossi 1892 carbine. The last time I chronographed it, it was going about 1700 fps- this much velocity seems to be pushing limits of this particular bullet.
It expanded to between .90 and .79 inch and weights 156 gr.
