I loaded some 300 gr Hornady XTPs in 45 Colt +P, and I shot them into gallon water jugs from my Rossi 92. These loads were going about 1590 fps over the chronograph.

Another surprisingly fine bullet for that little Rossi. The 45 Long Colt will do well on deer at reasonable ranges. Good post.

Impressive performance. That will flatten any deer or black bear.

Perspective- That bullet is loaded in a 12 ga slug to about that velocity. No flies on a 45 LC! CL

A 300 gr cast, powdercoated bullet, like that on the left in the picture was used to kill the pig below. A hot loaded 45 Colt, with good shot placement anchored this pig!
