Plus side:
Very well made, quiet, and simple to take on and off.
Superb traction on a skiff of snow or two feet. They really grip on rock, soil, and even timber as you are crossing downed trees.
Durable. They look like they will last use and abuse for a long long time!

Minus side:
Depending on conditions with the snow, sometimes the snow will ball up under your feet and get progressively thicker until you knock the snow off by kicking your foot onto the ground.

Result:
A must have to anyone hunting in slippery conditions. I love these things. The minor irritation with the snow sometimes sticking to the bottoms of your feet if the snow is just at the right temperatures is way off-set by how well these things work. I used them on my Mountain Goat hunt last year and even more this year. As my disclaimer stated, man it can be treacherous on the mountain for me, but these things really work.

You might notice, but my buddy Don was also wearing these on his mountain goat hunt. After he tried them when I was up there on our hunt, he was hooked!

Excellent report, David. These look like something that I could use.

It has been so dry here it is sad. I do have a pair of similar footwear but I doubt I will ever get to use them.....

Fine report....

Snow??...what's that????

Wonder how they will work in our ice storm conditions here?

I gotta' tell ya', David. I almost reported this as spam when I saw the title. You did something right, however, in putting the picture right at the beginning. "Hmmmm. I don't recall ever seeing spammers post a picture of their foot!" :? These do look interesting. Mortis, I'd suspect they could work in an ice storm. I remember quite a few in KS and TX when I needed something like this.

Thank you for the report, I will be picking up a pair for Ice fishing:)

Blessings,
Dan
You will like them. Do not get the one's that have the coils underneath, as they do not work nearly as well. My buddy Don has taken several tumbles ice fishing with that type of traction device on his feet and said they are worthless.

I've been using these things a lot (hard use) for a couple years now. One of the link bars pulled out of the bottom of the rubber grommet on one side. I called the Kahtoola and told them what happened. They told me to send the pair in and they would replace them. No questions asked. In just a few days I had a brand new pair in my mailbox. Ready to go wolf and coyote hunting now!!

Great service and these are a really good product.

I've used these for about 5 years now, great for pure ice or frozen ground. Only issue I've had is the clasp that holds the chain links together have come apart. I've even run with mine on sheer ice roadway.

Of all the different types that are out there these have worked the best.

I bought a pair and so did a couple of friends based solely on this review. Never heard of them before this review. These things are incredible! We hunt steep nasty big canyons with rock cliffs in the winter when the ground is frozen solid and ice on it, there is no slipping with these things! Like my friend said, you could sprint down a frozen hill with no slipping! 100% recommend and thanks for posting this David!

You bet. Nice to make sure guys know when there are some great products out there. Kahtoola makes a couple more similar products that I just noticed on their web-site. These look to be excellent too and are a bit more aggressive. For most of my hunting uses though the micro-spike will work just fine.
