I picked one of these up the other day, chambered in .243 Winchester. I have to admit I was seduced by its beautiful lines, nice wood, its light weight, and just general sex appeal. The thing reminds me of one of those drop-dead gorgeous women who stand about five feet tall and weigh in at 90 pounds. What a sweet rifle!

Anyone have any experiences to relate, good bad or indifferent? Having looked it over, I don't know what I can do to make it shoot if it doesn't already. The pillar 'n' glass bedding is very well done. I guess the only thing I could do is put a pressure point in the fore end. I'm hoping it won't come to that, though.

Sounds nice, congratulations.
Post a picture of her.

I have a day late/dolar short story about a Montana in .270 WSM. I would really like a Classic in .257 Roberts!

I shot an 84M in .308 for several years...great rifle. Nice cartridge for that set up too!

Post pics.

+2, get a picture of that rifle up! Man, you can't hold out on us like this! Scotty

Okay, here's the photo. She came to me with this nice little Leupold Vari-X 3-9 Compact on it. I am not sure this is the scope I want and I'm kicking around the idea of putting a VX-II 4-12x40mm AO. I dunno. It looks so good with that little 33mm-objective scope. I'm open to suggestions on this, maybe someone will have a great idea.

Rider, nice looking rifle. I wouldn't clutter up some really nice lines with a big scope. I think I'd put a 6x leupold on it. The 6x with the 33mm objective.

Those rifles are tailor made for the Leuplold FXII 4x33...perfect size and weight for that rifle.

The Leupold 2.5x8 is a pretty compact scope and those VX3's have excellent glass in them. Rifle looks excellent, I am with the others, it needs to keep the smaller sized scope on it. Just to nice and trim to put larger optics on. Scotty

Thanks for the comments on the scope. I think one thing is clear---the size of the Compact is very appealing and fits the rifle. I think I like the 3-9x magnification though. It's just a bit more flexible than a 4x or a 6x, although those choices certainly have their merits.

This rifle is shaping up to be the perfect walk-around varmint rifle! First time out with it, today, with some preliminary trial loads. I think I am on to something here...

Beautiful rifle and what a shooter!
I think I would leave it as is.

That is one sleek looking rig! Big fan of the wood stock. Looks like it shoots pretty good was welll.

For sure, that is a sleek, attractive rifle. I am pleased that it is producing such excellent groups.

Defiinately would NOT go w/ the bigger scope. If I wanted a .243 Win that'd look (and balance) properly with an observatory-sized scope on top, I'd look toward a heavier rifle, personally.

What you've got there is da bomb. I'm turning green here...

If I were to change anything I'd put a Leupy fixed 6x in Talley Lightweights. I have an old El Paso-built Weaver 6x on my 03-A3 in 6mm-250 (very similar to 243 Win) and it performs beautifully all the way out to 400 yds.

I own a 84m in 308...... it is simply amazing how well that thing shoots!!!! It shoots better than most of my 9lb+ guns.
I have a 3-9x40 vortex on mine and consider it perfect!!!

I did have a problem with mine:
It striked the primer very lightly, I had 3 out of 10 misfires with new brass and cci200's.
switched to WLR's and reduced the misfires to 1 of 10.
head space was in spec, but the problem seemed to disappear when I used once fired neck-sized brass.
Wolff does not sell an aftermarket main spring, so I shimmed the stock one, and adjusted the firing pin for a little more protrusion. It makes a nice "dent" now instead of a "ding"

I have not had a misfire in the last 400 shots. (more new brass and cci-200's)

the bolt face is rough, and can cause a "sticky" bolt feel, but I've gotten used to that.

thanks for the gun porn!!! I had to get mine out of the safe and pet it!!!

A rifle that misfires, even occasionally, is disconcerting in the extreme. We are always waiting to see if it will happen again. I've had a couple of rifles that misfired. New springs or dressing the firing pin usually addressed the problem.

That would be a huge NO Go for me until I was absolutely certain it could never happen again. Talk about a big let down. I am certain that rifle would grow wings or at least wish it had! Scotty

Two things you do NOT want to hear: a rifle that goes "CLICK" when you are expecting "BANG"; and a rifle that goes "BANG" when you are expecting "CLICK!"
