First client of the year. Got it started off right with a day and a half hunt with this 9'6" boar giving it up to a 375hh.

Really good looking bear, you and your client did well.......

Gotta love those dark chocolate Kodiak bears.

You getting tired of carrying hides yet Jake? [emoji6]

Never tired of packing hides!! By itself this one was 80lbs, after everything was fleshed and turned. Trimmed the eyelids even. So about 120lb pack weight.
We spotted him the night before with a sow. Circled the mountains in the morning and found them again. Another stud that fell victim to the sweet smells of a girl!!

Cool story. Sounds like it worked perfectly.

Any idea on the bullet used? Or any other particulars you would want to mention.

300 triple shock. The shot was longer but up hill a lot. It wasn't as step as i thought. So he hit a little low on the first shot. But he got it all taken care of.

Wow! What an experience that must have been. Congratulations to you and the hunter.

Looks like it. Jake, we don't get a ton of interaction from bear guides. What do you prefer and advise most of your hunters to run for the bear your hunting?

I tell everyone any .30-'06 and up is just fine. As long as you shoot it good. Don't shoot cheap ammo matter clear of Cor-lokt and the like. Partitions of some sort in a bullet are nice to have when the bullets takes on bone.
I prefer big guns, solely because I like penetration from
Any angle under any circumstance. Any gun can kill a broadside
Brown bear, but not any gun can kill it when it's 300 yards and running away....

Can't hurt
To check around. Sometimes I let kodiak hunts
Go for 10 grand, every now and then I push a grizzly hunt out the door for 8k....

Nice!!..I love to do a hunt like that for sure, but for now just going to hunt blackies :) 3 weeks to go for my bear hunt (y)

Lou

That is a dandy!! Congratulations to both the hunter & the guide (y).
Thank you for posting!!

Blessings,
Dan
