I'm on the verge of buying one of these...looks like a very good way to carry ~10 rounds on my belt.

Nosler offers one, made by Galco, and there are a lot of others available too...I only want one that will keep the 10 rounds quiet because I do still "go in after them" at times.

Thing is the price...$100 for the one from Nosler, about $80 from a couple of custom shops, down to around $40 for some of the less expensive ones.

Any insight would be appreciated...

The Nosler (Galco) version does look to be better made than the others...

Its only $8 cheaper direct from Galco...

...still got a couple, mine are sleeves, not loops, so if you use a round the rest sit loose, & leather, brass, & weather are generally a poor mix. The ballistic nylon ones w/ elastic loops aren't near as fancy, but they don't have the salts & tannic acids in 'em that eat brass when they get damp, either, & the shells don't rattle around...

Thanks guys...

I know how to make leather stand up to the weather, I've done it with saddles for years...but the leather eating the brass is another thing.

I've used leather slings with brass chicago screws and have had some mild tarnish on the screws...one such sling is over 20 years old..its been wet, frozen, dried, and sun baked numerous times, lol...I keep it well treated with the same stuff I use on my saddles, boots and everything else.

All the nylon ones I can find have velcro...I hate that stuff on hunting equipment.

Any suggestions for a nylon carrier that doesn't have velcro?

I have also used the Weatherby Nylon cartridge wallet that slips unto the buttstock and holds (5) extra cartridges as well. Both work but the nylon webbing will not damage the wood.

I've got a Allen that's soft cloth with the buckles for larger cases , and I have uncle Mikes , or maybe butler creek that is very stiff with Velcro for smaller cases . both do what they are intended for . I just throw mine in my fannypack , or backpack . I agree , velcro is very noisy while hunting . on this Item it doesn't really bother me because the only reason to open it is because you just shot the place up . a little velcro noise , after a shot , is nothing to worry about .I think the very stiff nylon one with velcro would be my choice for carrying on my belt .

I got this one (4 of them actually)...on clearance for less than $3...get em while they're hot, if you're looking for one....no velcro or snaps.

On the velcro...flaps have a way of getting snagged on limbs and stuff in thickets and grown up fence rows, then it pulls the velcro and everything within 200 yards is wondering "what was that?" Lol...been there and done that.

One of the worst was in my blind (Double Bull Gunhunter model)...accidentally snagged a window with the barrel, which pulled the velcro fasteners.....just a few seconds before that, I was enjoying myself watching the deer that were all around me...after that, a few snorts and foot stomps...and they were gone.

The leather ones always caused green corrosion on my brass so I bought a couple of Nylon with velcro.
I never carry them on the belt always in a coat or lower bellows pocket in my pants. I use them only to carry extra rounds into the field.
I have one fresh round in both front coat pockets and these are what I use to top off a magazine or clip after a shot.

I made my own leather one. It holds 16 264 Win mag rounds and has as super heavy duty Velcro closing flap to protect and keep the rounds from dropping out. My other cartridge wallets are the ballistic nylon type. The only reason that I made one for the 264 Win mag is I could not find a nylon type that held the loooooooooog 264 Win mag rounds like I wanted. I have a wallet for every rifle/pistol that I use for hunting that either fits on the belt of my little fanny pack or shoulder holster.

Since I just got a sewing machine that will sew plywood, I will try to come up with my own design. I have a pile of cordura so will try that first.
I guess wrapping 5 rounds in each of my spare wool socks I carry in my pack won't cut it anymore. I never had to use them yet, but now I feel like I'm ammo impaired after reading this topic! :)

I have been looking at his as well Charlie! Some nice stuff for sure and next trip to El Paso I will be bringing a few things home! Used to go to Juarez but not feeling lucky!

No one is that lucky in Ole Mexico any more, especially El Paso. We have a timeshare Mazatlan. Haven't been there in 8 years.
