Little sister and Dad went out hunting this evening. While they were walkin in, they got busted by two does and they figured everything was over with. Then they spotted a deer through the trees out in the stubble. Dad glassed him, and realized it was the buck he had missed Saturday morning. They had also spooked this buck yesterday evening. But they put a sneak on him, and got Abby set up 300 yards from him. Dad said he could hear Abby breathin hard but she settled herself down and when they other deer stepped clear, she shot and he bucked and jumped in the air. The deer had no idea what happened or where the shot came from and ended up running towards Dad and Abby. He stopped broadside again, and Abby put another one in him and he ran 40 yards and hit the dirt. Her first shot hit a little low and but did quite a bit of damage and the second shot destroyed what was left of the lungs from the first shot. Her little Marlin 7mm-08 and 140gr Accubonds do the trick again! Here are the pictures!
This is the first week we have been able to hunt this area all season. There has been 4 grizzlies hangin out in the brush and then crossing the road to eat spilled grain at the feedlot. There hasnt been any deer but this last week they started showing up again and the bears havent been seen.
