just wondering if the sinclair lock nuts ( split type ) would fit the RCBS dies?? the sinclairs look to be a more secure disighn than the RCBS ,, plus i always strip the little alan heads trying to tighten the RCBS

I have used both the Hornady and Forster split nuts to lock my dies. I routinely replace all my RCBS and Redding nuts with the Forster nuts now. I would anticipate that the Sinclair nuts will work equally well. Each work very well. I wonder why RCBS and Redding haven't made this change.

All dies and presses today use a 7/8x14 thread, with the exception of one of the Dillon presses which takes a die unique to it.
Redding, RCBS, Lee, Hornady, Lyman, Forster all are the same thread.

I think the dillion you are talking about must be the square deal b. My 550 uses standard dies. I too like the split rings lock, the other ones never stayed locked where I want them and are frustrating.

I used to drop a small lead sinker into the base of the set screw hold to lock the nut in place. It worked quite well, but the split nuts are superior in every way. I keep a bag of the split nuts handy for every new set of RCBS and Redding dies that I buy.

+1 for the split rings being superior in every way.

Replacing any that are not spilt ring with split ring ones is the first thing I do with every new set of dies.

cool  thanks guys,, i thought they would be interchangable but i wanted to make sure before i orderd them,, looks like im going to be gettin some tomorrow  i to have tryed putting some lead shot in the hole and then screwing it down but it only worked on maybe two out of the eight that i use,, plus those set screws seem very soft and ive stripped a few of um
