We had a tough summer in Oregon, little over 2million acres burned, some of those fires that started in early July are still burning but contained. We are still getting new fires starting but those are limited in size and quickly contained. I’ve been hoping to get a small controlled burn in a strip of mostly Ponderosa, about 5 or 6 acres but it is just too dry even though we’ve had a little rain. While it was 80 yesterday, our highs were forcast to be in the mid 60s next week with maybe a little rain. Did a little mowing yesterday to help with a fire break if I get the chance next week. Just checked the weather report again. We have snow in the forcast Monday morning. Hard to get a controlled burn going with snow on the ground. We’ve had snow this early before but normal is first week of November. Could be an interesting winter.

No fires but had a hot, dry Summer in my neck of the woods as well. Many days of 96, 97, 98 degrees with the real feel around 108, 109. Absolutely brutal.

It has cooled off a great deal. This past weekend we had the "leftovers" of that Hurricane that came through the Gulf of America. Had 6 inches of rain Friday night through Sunday morning.

This week is supposed to be mid 80's but the weekend highs 65 with lows in the 40's. Can you say GLORY HALLELUJAH

Definitely getting into fall, three weeks ago I’m hobbling around camp with a bum knee while the guys are out chasing elk. 6500 feet elevation and spend most of the night on top of my sleeping bag. 0400, just pulled my first cup of coffee, 27 degrees and clear. Not uncommon here to have diurnal range 30 or 40 degrees in clear weather, it is the smell of fall that is most enjoyable right now. Love this time of year.
