I want to try 7mm 150s in my 28 patriot and was wondering where ABLR like to be seated ?
Thanks

I've only used the 150 ABLR in my 280. I allowed 0.100 off the lands for some very fine accuracy. This shows its relationship to the AB.

I've been playing with that bullet in two 7x57s and a .280 Rem. Best results for me came from seating them a bit deep for a bit of a jump to the rifling. Usually two close together and one flyer that opened things up to around 1.50" on average. Still messing with the seating depth.

I do not measure off the lands but I have in the past had good success trimming the brass to exact measurement of what the books states for fired brass and then I extend the bullet as far as my magazine allows. This has really worked well with me using at first Accubonds and now with ABLRs. My rifles all shoot around .5 MOA when I am doing my job. My RMR in the 280AI is shooting extremely well using the 150gr. ABLRs and my last time out at the range it shot sub .5.

Blessings,
Dan

The two I've loaded, has been limited to mag length.

142 gr, 6.5 (creedmoor) is .050 off the lands

129gr 6.5 (.260 rem) is .1 if I load to mag length of 2.820, or .060 if I load to 2.860. Both were accurate with a few tenths of powder difference in the loads.

I've tried the 175s in my 28Nosler. You'll find a sweet spot somewhere between .050 and .1 off the lands. My accuracy is sub .5 MOA. The 150s will move out at 3400 FPS; I'd be concerned about close in shots at that speed. The 175s are moving out at 3100+ and will out perform the lighter ABLRs out at long range in both windage, elevation and retained energy.

Your 175/180 loads are insane. I dig it.

Scott,

That is some impressive speeds and fantastic accuracy.
Have you done anything with the 168 gr ABLR?

Jim,
I've only played with the 168 in my 280AI. It didn't do that well. I think it was the rifle though. I can't get anything to group better than 1.25". I'm thinking about a rebarrel. I'm probably done with the 28Nosler ....1/2" consistently with the 175s and 3/4" with the 195 Bergers.

Jeeze, ya think

That build is very impressive! I'm always looking forward to seeing your posts about it. You did it really nice Scott.

In my XP-100 7 SAUM I've loaded the Nosler 150 ABLR into the lands. 3-shot group at 100 meters was 0.26"
