Friend of mine has a H&S Precision in .308 while I have a common Rem. 700 VS, 1:12 twist, free floated and trigger down to #2. Looking for some great loads using primarily the 155 HPBT (Nosler ProShop 2nds).......have Lapua brass, Fed. Match primer........any pet loads you'd like to share? Thanks a lot.........xray

Reloader 15, H or IMR-4895, WW 748 or 760, IMR-4064 and Varget. All have given me great groups.Rick.

Are you interested in 100-yard groups, or long range (600-1000 yard) shooting? I assume that the choice of the long-range Palma bullet means you are doing some long range shooting. If so, there is no better starting point than top-ranked long-range shooter Bart Bobbit's choice:

"I'm beginning to think Sierra's 155-gr. Palma bullet is an excellent choice for service rifles. In a 1:12 twist, they can be driven fast enough in a 22-inch M1A or M14 barrel (also the 24-in. M1 barrel) to spin them fast enough to stablize them yet not so fast to cause those not quite as well balanced to be less accurate. The only limitation is they can't be shot fast enough in service rifles to remain supersonic at 1000 yards. An excellent load for this bullet in either service rifles or bolt guns is:
* Federal or Winchester case weighing about 165 grains, full-length sized.
* Federal 210M or RWS 5341 primer.
* 44.5 grains of IMR4895."

Ball powders are very seldom used in long range competition with the .308, and virtually never by the winners.
Check out the following site for more .308 load and accuracy information.

For pure accuracy loads, it's hard to beat IMR4895. For top vel. & good accuracy, give Varget, RL15 or VV150 a try.
