Looking for reloading data for 22-250 and Reloder 16

60 gr Partition.

I have Quickload data, otherwise data is limited to other 60 gr bullets with this powder.

Any help appreciated.
That combo is in no man's land.
In my humble .02 cents of good ol' cash
The bearing surface of the 60gr Partition in the 22-250 really needs a faster burning powder than R16...

Might I ask..
Why are you set on R16 for that? There are many other powders much, much, much,MUCH better suited for the 22-250 than R16. No matter the bullet

RL16 looks like a good choice of powder to me . it's a touch high on case fill , but I used higher case fills than this . use a drop tube funnel and you shouldn't have any problems .

Good info, Jim!
I used RL17 with the 77g TMK and it worked pretty good, but I had better accuracy with a couple other powders.

And that's the thing...

Almost any powder can propel a bullet from any case....
The results are the tell all.
Good, bad, indifferent...

If things were that simple we'd have a handful of powders that would work in every cartridge made.

To add....

Here is the actual manufacturer of Reloader 16, Alliant...
This is every caliber they have a recipe for...
1000006690.jpg

What cartridge don't we see here?
22-250

I'm not saying this tells the whole story but if that powder(r16) worked well in the 22-250 , no matter the bullet weight, the mfg would have some recipes for it. A couple...at least one...right? Any bullet...?
You'd think so.
Any bullet...
But not one recipe.

Again that doesn't say everything but it does say something.

Good luck brotha but I'd try Accurate 4064...
Meters well...decent velocity
Good accuracy with a 60gr Partition

This is from hodgdon data center
1000006692.jpg

Good luck

Why Reloder 16? I have 8 lbs bought for another project. Results with H4350 left the Reloder 16 sitting on the shelf. The sierra manual list it with their 60 gr bullets and I was curious if there was any institutional experience with this powder and the 60 gr Partition.

I have no info in a printed book . maybe call , or email Alliant .
Thanks for posting the QL data. So far, no response from Alliant or Nosler customer service. Its been weeks.

300WSM,
Talking to some of the old timers, 4064 was a common theme. Unfortunately, I do not have any. Other possibilities, PP2000MR, CFE223, and N140. I would like to avoid burning through my limited supply of Varget

the only powder I see that appeals to me more than RL16 , would be RL17 . RL17 supposedly gives about 20FPS more velocity ( not enough to worry about ) , but the case fill is at 104.5% . which makes it a little easier to work with . if you use a drop tube funnel with the RL16 I don't see you having any problems .
since you have RL16 , I'd use it . it gives great velocity . 39.4 grains should be the MAX powder charge . I would start at 35.0 grains and work my way up , while watching for signs of pressure . if you have a chronograph , I'd use it too .

this would be where I would start . 35.0 grains at 3393 FPS with a 26" BBL

Thanks,

38.4 is sierra's max load, nice to see the load data converging but their max velocity is 3500 fps for a 24" barrel. I am not trying for any speed records. I will only be running a 22" bbl. I just want to extend my reach from a 223.

The 60 gr Partition accounted for several deer this year in the friends and family circle. All with 223 from 40 to 130 yards. The property is being clearcut and shots of almost 300 yards become a possibility. That is the reason for the step up.

.Other possibilities, PP2000MR, CFE223, and N140. I would like to avoid burning through my limited supply of Varget
Give CFE223 a try when you do your RL16 load, it probably won't be as fast, but it gives excellent accuracy with several bullets in my 22-250.

here is the info with a 22" BBL . this will give you a closer idea of where the velocity should be while working up loads .

I hear ya on having an excess of a powder and trying to use it if possible....
And sometimes you can get a square peg to get into a round hole but the fit isn't optimum.

I say again, Alliant, the mfg of said R16, is in the business of selling powder.
When you pull up R16 on their website they don't even have one load listed in 22-250 with any bullet, let alone partitions using R16.

I certainly won't speak for them as to why they have zero loads in 22-250 with R16...
It could be as simple as "we've never got around to it" but I'm thinking there's probably another reason.

Please post any response they give you.

P.s.
When I have called them in the past they were great at getting me a live person to discuss loads.

300WSM,
Your logic makes perfect sense, I am not arguing that.

I am trying to save other powders that would probably be a better choices than Rl16 for more critical applications like 6mm BR and heavy target bullet 223.

If it doesn't work, I have lots of other choices. I even have a lb of CFE 223 like AFG270 suggested. PP2000MR another.

Thanks for all the help.
