Lost coyote

Hit a coyote yesterday with an 80gr ELD-VT from my 6 arc. The shot felt good and the amount of bright red blood looks like a solid lung hit, but after 60 yards lost the blood. When I used the 108 ELD-M, they usually died where they stood. I know weird things happen with bullets sometimes, so really to early to judge it. I know it’s not like I lost a trophy game animal, but it still gets under my skin. It’s probably dead close by in a tree fall or somewhere else that’s got it concealed.

Yeah, back in deer season I saw one chasing a doe, and the 140 Absolute Hammer from the 280 AI, made coyote pudding.

Bummer. The blood looks like a good hit. Hard to believe that it went more than 60 yards. Could it have been a leg hit?

Sorry you didn't recover the coyote. Hard to say what happened.
I had a couple of runners when I hit them on the point of the shoulder with the 50 gr BT from a 22-250. The 55 gr BT would give DRT kills. I also had DRT kills with the 70 gr BT from the 243 Win.

That’s an idea. Unfortunately a snow storm has rolled in so it’ll be a couple of days.

That’s what I think happened. After the hurricane, there’s a ton of tree tops it could have got in, or fell in the creek. That creek is my nemesis lol

Too bad about the snow. At some point later on they can still find the remains if you are in the area.

I had the creek experience this past season too. I lent up finding my buck in the water. The impact nocked him off the bank.
