Well..... I just bought a barrel off of gunbroker for a M70.

I was under the impression that all M70 barrels were the same thread. push feed vs crf are obviously a little different, but I was told that the threads are all the same.... HOWEVER!!!!! this barrel that I just bought has really fine threads, apparenty all the "new" m70's have this fine thread........ DANG IT!!!!!!

When it arrives, I'll mic it out and see if it is larger in diameter.... maybe I can mill it down and re-thread?????? if not, I'll have to put it back on gunbroker ..... SHOOT!!!!!

It's a brand new 24" supergrade 270 win...... was gonna re-barrel a worn out 25-06

thanks for listenening to me complain lol

Whew, replace a 25-06 with a 270! Phew, is that legal? Just kidding! Scotty

Shoot, it would make a good pry bar for that kind of money!!!!!! Scotty

i have brass/bullets/dies....... it really seemed like a fun project at the time....

i suppose you're right scotty.......

how about a heart 27" #5 fluted 25-06AI? now that would make the 257 gods grin!!!

you pay for the barrel, i'll do the rest..... I'll even let you shoot it

May be legal, but certainly immoral! :)

Tomato stake +1 What you need is a 25WSM (25 pronghorn). That is based on a 270WSM case..... Close but not quite :) CL

CL- now your talking buddy! That would be a cool cartridge! Scotty

Can't really tell, but it looks like maybe the new threads are a larger shank? Maybe this will work out after all? Keep us posted.

Just sell it You will get your money back for sure

I just measured... there is enough meat on the new bbl to machine and fit to an older reciever.
for what it's worth....

A friend with a lathe is going to "play" with this one...... this project will likely turn into a $35 education! cheap at half the price!!!

The 270 is a excellent choice. It isn't as hip as some of the "new kids on the block" but is tried and proven and gets the job done with dependable, boring monotony.
