When did they start installing the ISS and J-Lock on there rifles? I got my donor today and by locking at it and what I've read in the manual it appears I don't have it.

Its a BS safety feature to disable the bolt. They appeared about 10-12 years ago.
Be thankful you don't have one of those unsightly things on your bolt shroud.

Sweet thanks Jim so no ISS or J-Lock! Is that something they put on rifles going to certain parts of the country to comply with gun laws?

For a few years, all Remingtons had these. It was on my 673. I replaced the shroud before I ever pulled the trigger. Otherwise, it was just one more thing to create havoc.

Here's what a wart AKA J-lock looks like:

Ick!!! Glad I don't have one ,no use changing out the firing pin then. One less thing to do.

I had an older 700 no j-lock, but I still upgraded my firing pin and shroud with the titanium one from superior shooting systems.( david tubb) it is suposed to decrease lock time.
