Magnum Research 10/22

My wife just got me this for my birthday! It's the thumbhole / carbon wrapped barrel version. This is my first 10/22. I've owned Marlin bolt and semi but never the Ruger. Going to mount a scope tonight, sight in tomorrow and go squirrel hunting saturday.

Best part is, I'm taking my grand-daughter and her pink Red Ryder BB gun along so she can shoot it for the first time. Papa might have been a little early buying this for her. Have to cut the stock down and cock / hold and she can pull trigger. She rode last year for a couple of squirrel hunts and got along just fine.

I've been shooting the 17HMR last may years instead of the 22LR, so this will be fun getting back to my "roots" so to speak.

Congratulations! Those Magnum Research rifles are so nice. The one I messed around with was so much better than the Ruger version, it basically bears only a resemblance to the original and was improved in every respect.

I've owned one and switched the 22 barrel out for a 17 MachII and put on the Boyd's blue laminated thumbhole stock (pictures of the rifle and lynx is harvested this past winter on a thread from Dr. Mike). Great trigger! And a whole lot of fun to shoot!

Was out shooting it again 2 weeks ago...tiny little 10 shot, one hole groups (sub 1/4 MOA) at 25 yards, and was printing 3" 10 shot groups at 100 yards in a 15-25 mph swirling wind, with most printing well inside the 2" orange dot on the target, from a makeshift rest. Can't say it was all the fault of the wind or rest, but good enough for little varmints and busting broken clays' pieces that another shooter was breaking with his SKS at the range that day. (first time actually shooting it at 100 yards, having mostly shot it at 25 and 50 yards)
