Finally got around to getting my Marlin 444 sighted in.
4 shots/2" group 150 yards with a Hornady 265 FP InterLock
Rifle I got from Fotis last year
Had my smith install a muzzle break and added a Warne base/Leupold low PRW rings and Leupold VXII 1X-4X-20mm

Holy crap Randy! I love it! That rifle is sweet! I love them big bore Marlins. Haven't seen any that didn't shoot. I really am kicking myself for not getting Fotis's rifle now. There ain't much you can't lay low with that load either! Great work, that rifle looks really awesome the way you have it set up..

Randy,

That will be a great addition to your gun safe. Good for black bears and whatever comes prowling around when you're trying to shoot a deer or an elk.

She still is a shooter I see.

Love the 444. It has been dropped I heard so you might have a classic there.

Really love the rifle/cartridge and Thanks to Fotis and his deferred payment plan it became a reality for me.
Hope to get across the boarder into California and shoot a few pigs this year.

Randy

I have a 444SS thats been over to Wild West Guns for some modifications. Even with the 1-38 twist it still shoots the Beartooth 335 just fine, and the 265 Hornady is a ham slammer.

Randy,

Nicely done! That is a sharp looking rifle and it is a shooter for sure.
You are loaded for bear.

Man, I bet it is a sharp rifle. Any chance of putting a picture of it up?

Here's mine.

Unfortunately I haven't played with it much. I used to shoot offhand silhouettes with it out to 500 yards, but lately I've been using smaller bores. I'm not a big fan of recoil.

Man, I really like them 444's. Talk about a fun rifle for animals that need just a little extra!

scott there is a marlin guide gun in the paper in 45-70 and stainless for 500 is that a decent price? after handling yours i am thinking about getting one. i think for river bottom whitetails in the thick russian olive it would be ideal, besides that a lever action john wayne special is cool anyway but a 45 caliber john wayne special that will go through small trees with minor abberation? even better :)

Yeah buddy, 500 bucks is a good price. The ONLY thing I would look at is if the serial is written on the tang OR side of the receiver. If it is written on the side of the receiver or heck, even the tang, it may be worth bringing a handful of cartridges to make sure it functions well from the tube. The Later models made by Remington have some issues, some are excellent though. I wouldn't think a dude would mind letting you cycle the rifle, just to make sure it is fully 100%.

Go get it man.. The scenario you describe in tight woods is a tailor made spot to carry 45-70..
