I have obtained through a trade with some to boot from the guy I am trading with, a Marlin 1895M 450 Guide Gun. He is 70yrs old and fired 3 Hornady rounds through it and decided he did not want it. Well I DO!!!! I traded my Redhawk . Here is the factory picture and I will be posting a picture of the rifle itself soon. Also two boxes of Hornady ammo

I wanted a 444 or 45-70 or 450 to use in the swamps behind my place for large boar. I will pick it up Monday.

Yep!..........That`ll take care of any big boar and then some just fine!

A shooting buddy of mine has one in a 45-70. He mounted red dot scope on it. Just as quick aiming as using the iron sites.

Saweeet!

I have the same thing in 45-70 flavor. I love it.

300 gr Partitions at 2150 fps with H322.... What a hammer man!

You'll love the 450 Marlin, I'm 2 for 2 on deer with mine . It will really hammer them. Two big gaping holes makes for a very easy tracking job.

Big Squeeze I know you are right and if I use the bullet POP does it will nail them. 6ppcar, in the swamp and thick stuff it ought really be good on those white tail that love to stay in the swamp.

Hey, that is cool, I can't wait to start loading for mine. :):):)

Getting and feeling is two different things, of course I could be in denial but if you tell everybody I am getting older I will have to take ownership of that fact and I prefer how I feel instead of how I am. :):):) 8)

Congrats on what should turn out to be a great little/big rifle!

Mine is a .45/70, but I'd have been just fine with a .450 Marlin too. Nosler makes a great .45 cal 300 gr Partition for these guns...

Thanks Guy, seems a lot of you guys who hunt a lot and shoot a lot have a Marlin of some kind in 444, 45-70 or 450. That speaks well of the rifle and the cartridge in my opinion. thanks for the encouragement.

I'm chiming in a little late, but you made a great choice. Congrats! I've messed with 2 GG's, a 45-70 and a 444. They are a lot of fun, and extremely potent hunting rifles.

I think I'm going to give POP's load suggestion a try for myself.

Good Luck!

Steve

Well, thank you POP, that is needed for sure and is the kind of guide line I need. I just love it when you give that load stuff on a cartridge so I and others don't have to purchase some software. Thanks :):)

Yeah just tell the maker. In our legal torqued world who knows what I would be up against!

Well, I will drive 5 1/2 hours to Tallahassee Fl, to meet the guy who is trading me the 450 Marlin Guide Gun Monday. I have to leave at 4 in the morning to meet him there at a certain time. It is about half way between where we both live, but it will save money and time. To have a gun shipped to an FFL who would charge me 40.00 not counting the 25.00 shipping and insurance much less the time, we decide to just meet each other. I buy gas here for 1.79 a gallon so it is cheap for me to drive there. Monday will be a relaxing day for a lot of thought and reflection as I drive to and from Tallahassee. I have had a lot on my mine lately and need the time.
