Hey Bullet, aren't you going to Africa. That would be a cool gun to bring.

Hopefully I will be going for the 3rd time next Sept if the company does not back out on the contract work due to economic fall out. They are cutting personal at the moment. I won't be cut but work and contracts in Tanzania could be effected. If I go I will take two rifles, 375Wby Mark V and my 30-06 Mark V.

Bullet, I spoke to a co-worker today at the range and he's going to Tanzania next year with three of his buddys. They are doing a elephant cull because they are so many and they are eating up all the crops. Since the farmers plant only one crop a year thats not good for them when the elephants destroy it. They are getting to hunt three each. I remember what the two rifles look like. Don't loose them in the bush.

A powerfull Round that speaks with authority. I use the 325 gr. Leverevolution or 350 gr. Hornady FP. with about the same velocity.
Boy, Talk about speaking softly and carrying a big stick!! That will Getter Done!!! Congratts.
Good Hunting

Thanks russ, I won't loose them. You are so right about the elephants, there are a lot of them. That would be a ball for sure.

I really like the idea of the power of the 350gr Hornady FP and for hogs up close in thick stuff. Should be really effective and a real thumper

Picked it up today :):)

Ah... Nice!

I see it's the ported model... Word of advice from one who's been through it... Wear Ear Protection!!! Those short barreled ported blasters are NOISY!

Seriously - I shot a deer with my ported .45/70 and my ears rang for an hour afterwards. Use caution.

What a great lookin' little rifle though. I like it!!!

YEAH Guy, I will wear my ear muffs that help me listen for noise but shut down when the noise get over a certain level. It is a cool looking rifle and they are so handy to handle and carry. I like how it feels. All I have ever owned was the longer barrel version of the 444 and 45-70.

What a nice cannon you got there Bullet. You going to cammo it out?

SACRILEGE - SACRILEGE - SACRILEGE !!!!!! I don't have a lot of old world steel and wood on many of my rifles - WOW!!!! I could not do that to this rifle.

Yeah it is Greg, I think it is a very nice looking rifle. When I went to pick it up I said wow this thing is in mint shape. Come to find out he did fire three rounds through it and decided he didn't want it. What I like is he had the safety kit where you remove that cross bolt and replace it with a screw and he had a gunsmith change it out. I really like that because safety is like the earlier version where the safety is half cocking the hammer. I like that because there is not a lot of time when something is close and might come your direction and all you want to do is cock the hammer and fire. He said, "I don't see my self going to Alaska or Africa so I know I don't need this thing." Of course the largest rifle he owns is a 270 Win so you could see how he has such a perspective on this rifle. I also think he did not like the recoil. :):)

There's some good deals on big bores, to sum it up, a lot of people cannot take the recoil.
In a way I'm glad they can't.

Lookin good lil compact there!.............Good thing you got a ported one! A non-ported one just may, knock you flat on yer butt!!.......
