Mashburn and Magnetospeed

Time to go long.
All packed up, working 7 to 7 and I'll be shooting by 8am.
Last night I cut up a batch of fresh steel.

Loaded up 50 of my FF load. 140gr. BT, 65gr IMR4350, WLR, .015" off the lands. 2.865 og.

I also loaded up 2 ladders. 162gr. AMax & H1000. 150gr. Partition & R22. It's also the virgin trip with the new Magnetospeed Sporter.

Painted up and ready. This is going to be a long 12 hour shift.

I'm also dragging along a 7-08, 30-06, 30-30, and my new 20ga. auto slug gun

Well it was a pretty good day at the range. The Magnetospeed is awesome!!!
My fire form load with zero load work went 3184, 3174, and 3180 for 3.5" at 500.
I ran a ladder with H1000 and 162gr. AMax. 75gr. went 3180, 75.5gr. At 3196, and 76gr. at 3229 with no preasure signs. Almost no vertical from 75 to 75.5gr. at 500. I'm going to load up a few more at 75.5grs. and give it a go.
R22 is fast in this gun. I had a ladder running from 70grs. to 74grs. I stopped at 70.5 with no signs of preasure but it was fast. 150gr. Partition. 70gr. R22 3284, 70.5grs. for 3308. What would you do with that one?

The 7-08 with a Leupold 2-7 with post and duplex took the first and last shot. Both first round hits at 350 with 140gr. AccuBond and 42.5grs. Varget. Top of the post is perfect at 7x.
20ga. Browning Silver slug gun put 2 Federal Trophy solids "Barnes tipped" within a inch of each other 1" high at 100.
Load work for the 30-30 was a disaster and that's being nice. I'll give it a good cleaning and hit it again. It's probably been 20 years.

A little more on the MS. It did change the poi a lot!! 8" high at 100. It actually turned my 100 yard zero to a 500 yard zero. I shot the 3.5" group and never moved the turret. It actually worked out pretty well shooting ladder test at 500. It also moved the poi on my 18" 760 30-08 up about the same. Still works great for me. All I need is to find pressure/velocity then I will load for accuracy.
I'm really impressed with the 140gr. BT load. 65grs. IMR4350 thrown. MS attached. And it was 3 rounds that had over .01" runout that I straightened to .004".

I still wonder about the R22 and the 150 Partition. Recoil was mild, brass and primer looked great, bolt lift was smooth. But it seams like 3300fps with 70.5grs. is smoking!! The 150 would be my main hunting bullet for everything under 400 so I'm going to drop that down to around 3150 and look for accuracy.
I'll play with speed with the 120gr. TTSX a little later.

Man, your speeds are almost spot on with mine at the exact same charges. My FF load was around 3220 but close enough. Great accuracy from it as well.

That 150 PT at 3300 sounds very interesting. Makes me wanna try the 150 Swifts as well. Great data. Very interested in how your rifle works out with accuracy with the 150 PT and 162 AMax. Seems like 75.5 is just about magic with 160's. It's insane in my rifle.

Please keep up posting. Love seeing this Mashburn. Seems like another winner...

Glad you are liking the chronograph, it is on the list of things to buy soon.

You are certainly getting some good speeds out of that gun, it probably would be good to back off the RL 22 load like you are thinking, 3300 does sound awful fast Great looking line up of guns you have there by the way.

Was your FF load in formed cases? Just wondering as I've never tried the load in already formed cases.

I have always been a fan of the 7mm's so I picked up a old 700 in 7 mag last summer for $450 out the door with a Leupold m8 6x36. It shot everything well but nothing great. 1.5" was the norm. Finally a donor that don't shoot lights out.
This has been a great build from the start. The lady at Brux is a real sweetheart and the guys in the back turned out a great product. My break in is different from most but clean up is a breeze so far. I started with Dyna Bore Coat on the fresh barrel, cleaned at 10, 25, and 50 then I won't touch it until accuracy drops off.
I can not wait to see what the AMax will do if the worst of my ff loads are doing 3/4 moa at 500.
500 was pretty boring even with a good wind blowing. But I have enough elevation left in the turret to go to around 1700.

Virgin brass, FL sizing die. I think the chamber is a little on the tight side. I had to take my shell holdèr down around .01". That could explain the numbers I'm getting with R22 but everything else is the same as everyone else.
You have to admit that its a consistant round in a variety of rifles that I know of.

Without a doubt. Seems like everyone ends up in about the same place. I'm sorta intrigued by your 150 and 22 load.

I'm really interested in the R22 load as well. Everything looked good preasure wise. I'm going to load up 3 at 69.5 and 70grs and see what it will do on paper. If it looks good I'll load 50 and be set for a hunting load. I'll also be seeing if R22 is just as impressive with some 120gr. TTSX.

Wherever you end up with 22, I may try something similar with 23 and see where I can get too. My next priority is to see how well the 175 BBC's match up with the 175 PT's.
