I did this earlier on, but did it with once fired brass and resized. Lately I've been seeing where this should be performed on fully formed fired brass. Ive hit some nice speeds in this rifle with 350 grain, and 400 grain bullets without hitting pressure signs still. So today I measured brass that has fully formed to my my improved chamber. So I've waited with my new brass until it was fired enough to offer slight resistance when chambering. Im assuming this would be close to fully formed? Here are my results.

# Norma brass= 97 gr H20
Everything I've found on the 416 ruger case says it has 98-100 gr H20 capacity. So its pretty close i believe. Here is the speeds I've stopped load development at with different bullets, not necessarily max, but im assuming I'm getting pretty close. So far some norma brass is at 7 reloads, and still has tight primer pockets.
All these loads are in Norma cases.

# 350 speer MT 83 gr RL15= 2699fps.
# 350 TTSX 79.0 gr RL15= 2638 fps.
# 400 DGX 76.0 gr RL15= 2450 fps.

All these loads were development in 95 degree plus weather, so I'm pretty confident they are safe. I dont own a regular 416 taylor, so i don't know exactly how much the improved case is adding. Its seems like I'm probably close to 416 ruger loading im assuming, without running dangerous pressures. So any of you guys have any 416 taylor or 416 ruger data y'all can throw at me to see where this improved case stands??

I have a 416 Taylor with a 24" barrel and can share these results:

300 Barnes O 75.0 I4064 CCI 250 WW 3.358 2561 4370
350 Speer 83.6 H414 9 1/2M WW 3.358 2379 4399
350 Speer 83.6 RL-17 CCI 250 WW 3.358 2622 5344
400 Hornady 78.0 RL-17 CCI-250 WW 3.358 2316 4765

How does a 416 Taylor Improved differ from the 416 Taylor?

Thanks for the data! As far as I can tell comparing fire formed brass to the regular brass from norma, all I can tell is a sharper shoulder and the case bigger below the shoulder. I guess less taper is word im looking for.
