I've been thinking about buying a gauge to provide an excuse to spend more time in my cave. I'm interested in the Redding Instant Indicator Comparator and the RCBS Precision-Mic.

I'm looking to be able to be more precise when partial resizing than my current method of converting thread pitch into length.

I'm leaning towards the Redding but I'm open-minded. Anyone have any opinions?

beretzs has devised an ingenious use of a Hornady bullet comparator gauge. Use an oversized collet, which will give you the ability to measure shoulder set-back. They gauge is cheap and can be used for the intended purpose, too (measure length from case head to where the bullet makes "caliber".

There are a number of ways to measure headspace on fired cases. I think the Stoney Point, Hornady, is one of the easiest ones but you can use a fired 40 S&W cased on 308/30/06 cases oe a socket from any set. The numbers you generate are unique to your cases and the tool you use.Rick.
