Anyone try one yet? I was reading in Rifle Loony News that John Barsness tested one and gave it very high marks. Basically he said that they are very tough and exceptionally consistent adjustments, he also states that it is the brightest scope he has tested so far costing under $1000 which also got my attention. Looks like a very well made scope.

This one looks interesting too but doesn't have the same lens coatings by the looks of it and also has a steel tube which would make it even heavier.

I have Meopta binos, and I'm strongly considering a Meostar 1.5-6x42 Illuminated for my Whelen. I happen to have a line on one at a good price. :)

I believe Meopta optics are among the best, although they sometimes fall JUST short of Swarovski, but at 1/2-2/3 of the price, it's a small sacrifice in performance for a big savings of cash. As we all know, those top tier optics give a comparatively small gain in performance for a comparatively large increase in price, but sometimes that small gain makes all the difference?

I have eyeballed the Meopro's, and I consider them optically equal to or superior to the "old" Zeiss Conquests. In that price point where the Meopro's sit, there's very little I'd consider equal/better than the Meopta glass.

Where they lack, if you want to call it that, is the turrets. Not the nicest system in the world, but workable. Definitely not "target turrets", but they don't pretend to be, either.

I have seen a Meostar (the 30mm model) like I mentioned in a nearby Cabela's Bargain Cave for a good price. If it doesn't sell before next Friday, I have a Friends/Family discount there that would take another 20% off of it, and it could really easily follow me home then. :)

I haven't tried one in the field. However, I'm in the market for a new scope, and Meopta is one of the scopes I'm considering.
