MI WT Deer with a Hand Gun

Congratulations, just curious how far out you'd feel comfortable shooting a deer with your handgun?

Nice shooting Jim. Great shot with the 44! That is the same load I use in my 44 with the 240gr Nosler JHP's also. I can hold a decent group at 50 with iron sights, usually in a softball or so. Figure it is decent enough to kill deer with! Scotty

Interesting question.
I shoot my 629 at 100 yds and with a rock solid rest under ideal conditions, I would take the shot up to this distance.

I shoot my T/C Contender 6.5 JDJ out to 300 yds but I don't think I would shoot past 200 yds with this combo. Again, a solid rest and ideal conditions.

"Kill to the grill." Now there is a delightful phrase. I'm going to have to start carrying a grill with me in the field. Jim, those are delightful pictures. I'm always thrilled to witness those who live in an area where there are plenty of animals wandering about. It is a delight just to watch them.

Congrats JD. I hunted Menominee Co just across the fence from the Reservation. Tribal members were shooting deer on the 14th, don't know how long before that. Between their hunting and the crop damage permits that the area farmers had I saw 1 spike and 10 fawns in 3 days of hunting. Never even saw a decent doe. Last year there was standing corn on the place and so we got a couple of decent bucks, but this year it was all plowed under soybeans. I think next year I'll try to head to Wyoming for antelope and maybe forget the Michigan stuff.

Long,

That is exactly what we are doing next year!

Well, I'll be around LaGrange. Maybe can even make a connection for coffee with Pop this time out if we get over by the Capitol.......

If you are looking for any "extras" I'd throw my hat in the ring.

We missed a chance to hunt in Montana this year.
