Milled some bullets in half today

That is pretty awesome to see them milled down Nathan. I am pretty impressed with that 225 BT. It really makes me think that 225 AB I am shooting in the Whelen should be a great pill. I do also like the 250 PT as well. That is about as tough a bullet as I would ever need I think.

I have friends that have killed quite a bit of game over the years with the .358STA and 225gr Sierra's and BT's.

Partitions are all the same. You cut one you cut them all because they all look the same.

Hmmm. That .358 225 grain BT looks to be very interesting. I've overlooked it to date. That would be a hammer, for sure. It is fascinating that I've shot the 225 grain Sierra in my .358 Win, but not the BT.

I just missed on 50 count boxes for them for 15.00 a piece! I should horsewhip myself. They are probably really something in the Whelen.

Ah well, I have a couple 100 AB's, so they will last a little while..

I only have about 25 left but I don't shoot my .358STA or .350 Rem. Mag. anymore. So they have been sitting on the shelf for awhile. I bet they would work great in a Whelen at a bit lower velocity.

Is your 358 a big gun Nathan? Why don't you shoot it? Man... Hope you have some loaded for when I pass through. Must be a few rocks that need breaking in your area!

I posted pictures of it. It's a Lilja #5 contour, SS Rem. 700 action, and a High Tech Specialties stock. Why don't I shoot it........I have too many other guns and I'm building more all the time. I have rounds loaded for it with 250gr Hornady's I believe and it should still be sighted in. I built it and hunted with it for 4-5 years and then built my .375-.358STA and did the same thing. Then I built my .416 Rem. and have used it for short range since. It flat hammers stuff like no other so anytime the range is less than 500yds the .416 get's the nod anymore. For deer I usually use my .30-8mm but I'm building a couple lighter weight rifles for backpacking in this year. One is a .284 Win. on a McGowen #5, another is a 7-300wm on a Obermeyer #5, and I just got a Rock Creek Palma barrel that I'll either do a 6.5-284 or a 6.5-300wm on. Whichever of the 3 is the most accurate will go hunting. I was actually gonna try to chamber the .284 today if I get the time. I haven't even finished breaking in my Edge and I'll have to break in another one :).

Man, you have alot of irons in the fire!

I thought I had a problem choosing a rifle when it came to elk season! You must have to really study!

That 284 sounds like a cool one. Pretty classic little cartridge.

It will be my 3rd .284. My first custom gun was a .284 and I still have it.

Nathan,

I haven't built a .284, yet. However, I've considered building one at some point in the near future. I believe it is a great round that should never have been overlooked. I agree with Scotty, you have some fascinating cartridges chambered in your rifles.
