Finally, thanks to RidgeRunner, I have my Model 71 348 Winchester, plus enough ammo to keep me shooting quite awhile, even pitched in a set of dies and some 200 grain Hornady's.. Just can't say thank you enough to him. It is a dream rifle. Thank you.

I think I might have a problem though, the ladies of the house seem to really like the blued steel and wood... Can't say I blame them though.

Nosler, if your listening, I could really use a Partition for this rifle... HA!

Can't wait to get out and give it a whirl on the range. Might try making a few milk jugs beg for mercy too..

use it well man, it does very well at making live things dead, great meeting you, I know it has a good home.

Thank you man. Trust me, it'll get it's time in the sun..

It was great to meet you as well. Hopefully we can do it more often now that I realize you aren't too far away. Less than 2 hours to get home. Easy trip and well worth it. That sight seeing tour made me miss the mountains..

scotty a Partition isn't really needed, those silvertips have hammered a lot of grizzleys, the big bear I shot was 286# shot at 12 steps, he never moved, shoulder shot, the bullet exited expanded to about .45, you'll see, its a small hammer with a hard hit.

Where's DrMike? He must have sensed a Winchester lever gun has swapped hands by now  :)

I can't wait to run it. I can't hardly put it down. The drive home was horrible as I just wanted to hold it!

Yeah, from what I hear from you and a few other 348 guys, the 200 grain Silvertip and Hornady are pretty fierce bullets..

BUT, I can't help myself from trying new stuff. Although, it might be awhile with all of the Silvertips you passed along!

Thank you Lou.

Great snag, Scotty. This is a reading day, Gerry. I go cross-eyed each Tuesday. I check in and out, and read the remainder of the time. The Model 71 has to be one of the classics, for sure.

just thought I'd post a pic, this is the 3rd of 4 or 5 bears I shot with that rifle, its a might rough on coyotes also

That is just AWESOME Scotty!!!!

That looks like a twin to my Carbine brother! I can't say how much I love carrying mine around the woods here in Missouri. It handles like a dream and just like RR said it has a way of making things dead..... quick.

And don't think it won't shoot either. You will be amazed at the groups they produce at 100 with those peep sights. I have scoped rifles that don't shoot that well.

Can't wait to see some targets. Man those Silvertips are sweet.

You did well young Jedi. Join the 348 Club.

Mine is still in the box but I did get a peep for it. That is still in the box too.
