Model 71 348 Winchester

...lo    oks like you were the proud owner of a fine rifle for about 15mins. dere, Scotty...

Very nice Scotty! Looks like you might have to arm wrestle the girls for your turn behind the lever!

Pretty slick buddy. That or a 45-70 would be slick as all get out but I can't get myself to get one. Maybe one day.

Very nice Scotty! How are you planning to bloody that fine rifle?

Well, I tried to get the wife prepped for a trip to Idaho to hunt some Spring bear. Not sure she bit off on it though.... I will keep trying though. I can't think of a better way to blood it myself than some bear!

Jake, the lever guns are alot of fun, even in that wide open country you live in, the lever guns really are handy.

Hoping to get it out today and put some rounds through it. Going to try and find some jugs. Wanna see if I can recover one of those Silvertips!

I have heard of a lot of elk and moose that fell in front of the .348.

Good score, great deal, from member to member.

HA! Blind squirrel finds a nut every once in awhile I guess. Took it out today. Ran through some rounds, just from sitting and kneeling at 100 yards. Probably have to bump the peep over to the left a little, but ran awesome. What a fun rifle to shoot. Had a blast with it!

The couple smaller holes are my son's 243.

I can see me having some fun with this one!

scotty,
I always used a smaller arpeture in the peep for range work/sighting in but I've somehow lost it, it helps with fine tuning the sight-in. that's what ya get for buying a rifle off a southpaw!!!

No worries. I've got a screw driver. It'll move where it's supposed to I think.

With the right loads, you should be able to group about 2.0 inches I would think, Scotty?

Oh yeah Charlie. It shoots fine. I will have to put it over the bench and see what it does. It's more fun shooting it from field positions though!

Yeah, I had to get it out. It really isn't fair showing that target as I was just sitting on my butt getting used to it. Next time out I have some loads made up to try out. I said I wouldn't start messing with it, BUT I QL'ed a few things, had some bullets around, plenty of empty brass... Well, you know what happens next..

That sorta stuff happens all too frequently around here, Scotty. They do look good, however. Kinda beggin' to go to the range.

Wow Scotty that rifle has been on the short list and I am glad ya got  nice pick up and in reall great condition with blood all over it and I know you will have it bloody really soon for sure! Glad ya got it as I know ya been looking for a while, it's so sweet when ya find one that ya know ya gotta have and it's in your hands  it' a screaming I wanta knock something down for sure

Scotty that is a great looking rifle and I know that you will enjoy shooting that rifle a lot. Once you get her to the bench that group will tighten up significantly.
Glad you were able to get it & add to your safe.

Blessings,
Dan

Nice rifle, you'll have fun with it!

I know that I had fun with mine while I had it, and it shot well. Never should have sold it...but life got in the way back then and priorities took over.

On a happier note, I picked up my new levergun yesterday...the Marlin 336BL for my 414 Super Mag build project!
