Do any of y'all that reload a lot of 9mm use Monarch brass. I have shot a lot of it but have not been reloading 9mm and not keeping the brass. I've been considering getting a set of 9mm dies for my Dillon, not to save money, but to keep myself occupied. I have a bunch of Monarch ammo that will be rendered into once fired brass in the next few months. Is it worth picking up.

To be honest Bruce I've never heard of Monarch brass unless it's made by Federal who made Monarch shot gun shells.
I would google it to see where it's manufactured.
Then on the other side I save all brass cases to take to the junk yard and sell for scrap once it exceeds its usefulness.

You can try it and see if it works ok. At the worst it will keep you occupied for awhile till other brass comes along.

It may burn up your excess time but it sure isn't worth the time or effort. 9mm bulk ammo is so cheap that I can't load it for the same price. I can just barely save a buck on 40 S&W reloads.

Yeah that is a point, the 115 gr fmj is 24 cents a round. Thec124gr Nato is 20 cents.

Monarch is manufactured in Brazil (mon headstamp), some is made by Prvi (PPU headstamp) and Monarch in Turkey (trk headstamp). Those are just the ones I know about. I guess I'll pick some up next time out, deprime them and see how they clean up.

Don't remember which brand it was but encountered some brass-colored steel cases 9mm. A magnet would pick it up reason I know. Wasn't aware that such cases were in production. Plain steel yes, brass colored no. Might be on the lookout for this.

I shoot quite a bit of 9mm that I reload and I'm very careful about picking cases up other than mine. I have also found steel cases that are brass in color.

I've never been too particular about brass (not steel) reloading range fodder for my 45 acp. I just took a bunch from the bucket the trustees filled cleaning up after range sessions. The club range I shoot at now is paved with pistol brass. Doesn't seem that many pick up brass. They also don't allow reloads in the informal matches they host. I will likely try and pick up only my own but picking up a variety of brass is inevitable using one of those roller brass retrievers from Midway. I've got a lot of cheap 9mm to shoot before I fire up the reloader. I will pick up 9mm brass clean and sort them in the mean time. The 9mm dies from Dilon seem to be a couple months back ordered anyway.
