Lou, I am sorry I did not see this post earlier !! That is such a waste and with the price of meat going stupid the cost is enough as well.
Being a old insurance adjuster you may have coverage for that loss. Not sure it is worth it depending on your coverage and deductible..
Sure hope that you get another crack at those Newfie Moose !!

Blessings,
Dan

Yah Dan, it kinda sucks, but it is what it is pal :( ..on the up side of things, I'm flying out again on Oct 31st for another crack at it  ..I'm looking forward to it for sure (y)

Lou,

How are you planning to get your meat back?

I too am flying and thinking about having it flash frozen and check it as excess baggage in plastic tubs. Do you have another way?

Well Lou I am glad that there is a silver lining & you are going to be able to use your Hurt&Hurt on another Moose.
I always enjoy reading of your adventure. Sure hope photos will be included .

Hi Vince, I have it butchered there and vacuum packed as well, I use 65 litre rubber maid containers and drill holes (1 on all 4 sides) and use zip ties to keep the lid secure. I'm allowed 50lbs per container, I also use a black marker on the lid with my name and address on it. Air Canada charges $100 per container. Where abouts are you hunting?..I can hook you up with a cold storage trucking company if you like?..Many US hunters use this service as well, just let me know, and I'll get the contact name and number for you :)

What area are you hunting?..I'll be hunting in area 10 again, and have an either sex tag,

Good luck on your hunt, you well have the trip of a life time!

Vince this is my gear at the airport in Toronto just to give you an Idea pal. I would check with your airline to see what you are allowed for bounty and antlers as well, my rack was small and I snuck it in my luggage

Lou,

I'll call the outfitter and find out what area we are hunting. All I know is it's with Efford's Hunting Outfitters. Thank you as I'd like that information. We fly in to Gander and will be staying in the lodge or a spike camp but not the fly in hunt.
