Son in Law and daughter just returned from Boise. SIL needed more imaging to determine the extent of the cancer. The radiologist report essentially says surgery is the only chance he’s got. Essentially the docs will “gut him like a fish” hope to get enough of the cancer to prolong “salvage” his life. A few months ago, following radiation and Kemo it appeared the cancer had been in remission. We are beyond sad.
He goes in for surgery this Friday. He’ll be in hospital for at least a week. Docs hope they can salvage enough of his rectum/colon that they can repair him in about a year. In the interim he will be on a bag.
We have greatly appreciated all the prayers, hoping you have a few more.
Don.

Best of luck to your SIL , hopefully they can get him back on track to enjoy his life.
Cancer is such an evil disease , I lost my Mother , both Grandfathers and an Uncle to it.

Heart wrenching to say the least. Hoping all the best for him and all the family. Prayers!

Thank you all. More bad news today. I’ll update tomorrow after I’ve had a chance to talk to the daughter.

Don. I have been absent from the forum for a while, frequently just surf to catch up on old friends as I am not reloading anymore.
I want to extend my good thoughts and prayers for your family, Also pray for medical staff capable for proper and effective positive outcomes from their efforts.
The Nosler forum has been, and remains my "Go To" site when looking for a respite from this crazy world we live in. God Bless, Rol

Today was to be surgery. Unfortunately the tests on Tuesday revealed the cancer has spread from the rectum to the prostate, kidneys, liver Lymp system and lungs. The over under is 6 to 9 months with no treatment, twice that if they can find a treatment that he can handle. Apparently there is not a direct medical application given the extent of his cancer.
The kids are in seclusion right now trying to determine what route to take. With no treatment he’ll have a pretty good life, travel get a few more mountains under his belt. He will rapidly go down hill at the end. Treatment will damn near kill him starting immediately. He won’t be able to do the things he wants to. He may live long enough to see his daughter graduate, she’s a junior, but he may not be able to attend graduation.
We appreciate all the prayers. Thank you. 🙏

It is a tough balance between quality vs quantity of life with the cancer talk. I lost my mom to cancer at the end of my junior year in high school, my prayers to the whole family.

That must have been so tough to loose your mother at 17 or there about. You have my sincere sympathy.
