Mule deer buck seen this weekend

Was cruising along slowly in my Jeep, scared up this fellow and his twin, only a few yards away! Not a bruiser, just a typical mule deer buck for my area of Washington. Love seeing these guys!

He is a nice buck. I also noticed some green grass, a far cry from last year at this time. I will bet he bolted shortly after the picture was taken.

You certainly captured the strange admixture of curiosity and caution so typical of mulies. It is always a source of decided pleasure to see these beautiful creatures.

Yes, greener by far than last year, but still dry. We've got a few fires going, but NOTHING like last year. Thanks for keeping my state from burning up!
