Just returned from Colorado. Ended up shooting my biggest buck ever, and first with a rifle. I used my Weatherby chambered in 270 Win. 150 gr. NBT (old style) with H4831. First shot was broadside at 410 yards. Hit the high shoulder shot dropping him instantly. Put a second round in him to finish him at about 30 yards. Recovered both bullets that I will weigh this week and post pictures of.

This buck weighed well over 300 pounds and looked giant compared to the other deer in the group.

Even managed to find a few sheds!

Good luck to each of you still hunting!ImageUploadedByTapatalk1446959118.003190.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1446959151.928089.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1446959204.671483.jpg

A beautiful mulie. You have every right to be pleased with that specimen. Congratulations.

NICE BUCK!

Congratulations.

And a .270 Win with 150's and H4831? Classic... Good shooting.

Regards, Guy

Awesome deer! Would love to see those bullets when you get the chance.

Any idea what speed you are running them? My curiosity is that I'm also shooting 150BT's (old grey-tips) from my 270. Just curious. ;)

Congrats again on an awesome deer, and great shooting!

That is a tank what a great Buck, Congratulations!
Thank you for photographs!!

Blessings,
Dan

Thanks all! Im back to work but on Tuesday when I get home, I will clean up the bullets and weigh them. I will post pics too. I was very happy with their performance.

Also I'm getting 2875 thru a chrono.

For sure, he is a hog. I have no doubt that he stood out when posed against other deer.

What a horse! You sure he aint one of them "Slow Elk!?!???"  He looks big enough to be an "Angus Cross......" Outstanding Buck. CL

Here are a few pictures of the two bullets found in the off side hide.

These are the old solid base Ballistic tips.

This bullet was fired into the buck as a finishing shot at an estimated distance of 40 yards. Impact right behind the elbow while he laid on his side going up into the chest cavity. It weighed 54 gr. and appears to have lost its lead core.

This bullet weighed 83 gr. And mushroomed quite nicely. Impact was high shoulder through the spine and off shoulder coming to rest under the hide. Distance was 410 yards.

Here is a different angle of the 2 bullets.

I have heard stories of these bullets being to soft etc. I have also talked to numerous guys who have killed up to mature bull elk with them. I love the modern BT and use them most of the time for deer. It was very rewarding to take this buck with these older bullets.
