When I was a teenager I hunted pheasant but didn't shoot one. Ducks and geease were a big fat zero too. I first deer hunted in 1980 had a bad experience with drunk road hunters and I've been soured on big game in my state sinc the\n. This is my first anttempt a real hunt with an outfitter too. This is mu first legitimate hunt ever. So I hope all my dreams come true. I'm so excited to have this opportunity to kill one of the great animals that a hunter can take. So all your well wishes and pra;yers will see to my first big game animal down.

Everyone here is pulling for you to bag your first animal for sure. Make sure you keep us up to date and take lots of pictures, you will definitely hear about it if you don't :lol:

BTW, I waited about 40 years for a pronghorn hunt. Finally went in 2012. LOVED the hunt. As a bonus, the meat is absolutely delicious. The euro mount on the wall of the living room is So Different from all the mule deer mounts... Wow... It was a great hunt, and I'm going again this year.

Thanks fellas. If a big boy comes along I won't turn him down of course but a decent first one will be great. I'm going with a very good friend so I'm looking forward to spending time with him the most. We share a lot in common so it will be enjoyable. I love the wide open country where we'll be and I will just drink it in and revel in the peace and quiet.

The camaraderie of friends (old and new) is one of the most memorable aspects of the hunt. I do believe that you are upping the odds of success by using a guide-outfitter.
The friendships and camaraderie is really what it is all about. I always have stated this that getting your game is nice but it is the bonus of the hunt :mrgreen:!!
I know that you will enjoy this hunt and I am looking forward to a great story with photos if possible.

Antelope hunts are really low stress low drag hunts. The antelope that accompanies my post was my one and only antelope hunt and it was outfitted. I don't recall how many decent antelope I saw in two days but is more than a dozen. The one I shot was at 175 yds and and a short stalk. When it came time to shoot, the guide had to whistle to wake the buck up so I could see his vitals above the sage brush. Good luck on your hunt. By the way, where is going to take place.

Best of luck on your upcoming hunt.. The planning and anticipation is part of the experience that will last a lifetime. You have two great things going for you, first going with a friend that you know and making new friends with your outfitter and folks that you will meet. Looking forward to stories and pictures.

Thank you all for wishing me well. I appreciate it very much. Mustang _ first of all, welcome to the circus! You've hit on a really good bunch of guys and gals here. Lots of know ledge here. I am regularly accused of being obsessed with pronghorns. This is true. If I might recommend, read some from Jack O Connor's book. Hunting North American Big Game. Its a good read all around and he does a nice section on goats and judging size of an animal's horns. Not suggesting that a trophy is everything. You already have a friend along and beautiful country. But one of the nice things about antelope is you sometimes get to see lots of them. You don't always need to take the first thing you see.... Of course your guide is your best resource. Listen to them as he or she should know what's typical for the area. My advice is, have fun! Good luck! And keep us posted. CL

Antelope are fun to hunt, relax, enjoy yourself and shoot a decent one. They are not hard to find. Most of all, have a good trip.
